Education plays a crucial role in the Defense Intrepid Network (DIN), supporting research and clinical operations for three main audiences: patients and families, healthcare providers and future health care professionals - offering diverse opportunities including professional development, graduate education and experiential learning. As a directorate of an academic teaching hospital, the NICoE regularly accepts students at various points in their education to offer mentoring, observation hours and hands-on clinical and research experiences. The impact of offering experiential learning opportunities to medical and allied health care students cannot be overstated. These immersive experiences offered at the NICoE and the DIN have far-reaching effects that not only benefit the students but also significantly enhance the quality of care and support provided to TBI patients. The impact of exposing future healthcare providers to an interdisciplinary TBI care model also ripples through the MHS, encouraging collaboration and teamwork among different healthcare disciplines.

Health professions Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are a way to cultivate healthcare workers. These programs can thrive when school districts partner with healthcare systems or clinics to benefit students. It will be interesting to see the findings from this survey as placement is often the element of any healthcare programme that can cause the most stress for students. With varying models of support, incredibly busy clinical environments and more pressures on staff, is teaching less important and are students left feeling under valued? #radiography #placement

💜Solving Challenging Behaviour & Preventing the Need for Psychotropic Restraint💜⁠ ⁠ This day is for leaders, health care professionals and care staff working in the areas of Aged Care, Hospitals and Community Services.⁠ ⁠ 👉️Participants will learn:⁠ 1. To understand the root cause of conflict⁠ 2. How to identify the 4 categories of unmet needs behind challenging behaviours⁠ 3. How to meet these specific needs in a meaningful and lasting way⁠ 4. How to understand the symbolic language of people with dementia⁠ 5. A practical model for a team solution to solving specific challenging behaviour⁠ ⁠ *The prerequisite is to have participated in the one day education on ‘How to Ignite the Spark of Life – A Day on Culture Enrichment’.⁠ ⁠ The outcomes are the all needed shift from moving from a task orientated organisation to a person orientated organisation, and being able and empowered to shift the focus to the perspective and emotional needs of the individual they are caring for. One of the best videos I have seen (and I watch a lot!) recently. Well done to the KS3 students who created this video about #DramaTherapist 🎭 In addition to admiring the creativity of the video, I also had some reflections on how children today see the world as a digital playground. They are digital natives, having grown up surrounded by technology. This shapes their view of the world as inherently connected and information-rich. We also know that many students learn best through visual aids and prefer information presented in a multimedia format. So what DO WE need to do to stimulate further interests from our next generations about healthcare careers? How do we promote the different professional groups and options?
