Dear Connections!! I would like to share my Offcampus Interview Experience at Stripe for SWE summer intern role. #Round 1: Online Assessment It started with one complex hard-level question where I had to solve a real-life problem in 60 minutes. ⏰ I managed to get 7 out of 10 test cases right, and a week later, I was excited to receive an interview invitation! 🎉 #Preparation☘️ The guide mentioned arrays, strings, maps topics. So I practiced these data structures and related algos like Binary search , 2 Pointers, Sliding windows from Leetcode, focusing on problem solving and approach of questions. #Round 2: Technical Interview (virtual) The interviewer was friendly, and asked my coding language. Then, I was presented with a real-life problem to solve on HackerRank(arr, string based). The twist was that I had to start coding from scratch—writing functions, handling inputs, and testing with examples. Although the approach and logic came to me quickly, but I was short on practice to build a working code from scratch. I tried my best in that 1 hour duration and developed a decent code. Although I couldn't make it to next round but this experience was valuable. #Key #Takeaway🦋 If I had to prepare again, I would focus on practicing array problems using VS Code or an online compiler, coding everything on my own, from taking several inputs, writing functions, coding in int main, to deepen my understanding of C++. This would take more time, but I'm confident it would significantly improve my skills. 📚💻 Thank you, Stripe , for this opportunity. For those curious, candidates who clear Round 2 move for onsite interviews. 🏢 #interviewexperience #stripe #codingchallenge #softwareengineering #techinterview #codingfromscratch #learningjourney #cplusplus #growthmindset
Practicing coding from scratch is indeed super helpful, and I'd add that incorporating timed mock interviews can really elevate your performance. Simulating the actual interview environment helps manage the pressure and build that crucial muscle memory. 👍
I faced the same problem where I knew the solution but couldn’t write it from scratch. It felt bad, so I started taking part in CodeChef contests. With regular practice, I got much better.
