We are pleased to support Boerse Stuttgart Group in ECB blockchain tests and set the course for the digitalization of the European capital market 🚀 In cooperation with Deutsche Bank and other partner banks, and Deutsche Bundesbank, Boerse Stuttgart Group has achieved a significant milestone and has for the first time successfully tested exchange transactions with blockchain-based securities against central bank money as part of European Central Bank (ECB) tests. The results are promising: the settlement time was reduced from two days to just a few minutes - with full automation, enhanced security and no counterparty risk. The test included various tokenised securities, including bonds, funds and shares. These advancements highlight the tremendous potential of blockchain technology for the future of the digital capital market. 🌍 The European Central Bank (ECB) is exploring the idea of a "European ledger"—a unified blockchain platform for digital assets and money across Europe. This could streamline operations, reduce costs, and promote financial integration. 🔑 ECB's Piero Cipollone highlighted that while Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) offers huge potential, non-interoperable systems across EU countries are still a challenge, leading to fragmented capital markets.
