Lt. Governor Primavera and Serve Colorado Executive Director John Kelly visited the Aurora Public Library last Friday to celebrate Digital Inclusion Week and the one-year-anniversary of the Colorado Digital Navigators program! Our Colorado Digital Navigators work tirelessly towards finding digital solutions year-round. They support community members through improving home connectivity, device access, and digital skills. The Digital Navigator Pilot Program now provides services at 74 locations in 13 counties, with over half of the members speaking a language in addition to English! Serve Colorado is incredibly proud of the Digital Navigators serving across the state and can’t wait to see the impact they continue to have after such a successful inaugural year!

AI and its influences on career advancement, healthcare, research, education, and society in general, require that we’re conscientious of the impact of a growing digital divide. It’s not the least bit hyperbolic to suggest that the lack of digital access and/or literacy will create an existential threat to those unable to learn or utilize modern technology. Collectively, we need to evangelize democratizing access to technology with the same sense of urgency used to articulate its transformative value.

This article outlines one challenge in the digital equity movement.
At Net Inclusion, we had a panel that focused on some challenging questions for the digital equity movement - we had a panel and then after, Shayna Englin and I carried on the conversation in an episode of Connect This! ... We wrote at story on Community Broadband Networks about these issues to consolidate them in one post. https://lnkd.in/gYq2vrQ3 Included in that is a comment from me trying to sum up some of the problem: “Comcast is the best of the big monopoly national companies. Comcast has hired people who feel in their core that they want to use some of the power that Comcast has to connect people." "Comcast's Internet Essentials has done more than all the other big companies combined. Comcast has also made sure that thousands of people in Chattanooga are not connected. Tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, around Chattanooga have DSL or satellite because Chattanooga is a municipal network and Comcast doesn't want to see that expand into the areas where Comcast is not interested in serving.”

Today marks the first day of National Digital Inclusion Week (Oct. 7th - 11th). Digital inclusion can lead to improved education and employment outcomes, better health and well-being, and efficiency savings for public service providers. Help me advocate for digital equity and inclusion: Digital inclusion is the process of ensuring that everyone has access to and the skills to use digital technologies, services, and opportunities. It involves making digital technology accessible to all individuals and communities, including those who are most disadvantaged. Digital inclusion includes: Access Having access to high-speed, reliable internet and related equipment. This includes having internet connections at home or in community institutions. Digital literacy Having the skills to use the internet and modern technologies, such as computers and smartphones. Accessibility Designing services to meet the needs of all users, including those who use assistive technology. Technical support Having access to quality technical support. Online content Having access to applications and online content that encourage self-sufficiency, participation, and collaboration.

This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we're not just celebrating—we're learning. We're embracing the innovative spirit that's propelled the Hispanic community forward, breaking barriers and redefining success across industries. We believe progress isn't just about achievements. It's about people. It's about the resilience to face challenges head-on and the unity to lift each other up. We're committed to fostering an environment where diverse voices aren't just heard—they're amplified. Where new ideas aren't just welcome—they're sought after. Because in our world, change isn't just inevitable. It's an opportunity to lead.
