The startup ecosystem is evolving and shifting from traditional funding to encompass total support, including mentorship, networking, strategic advice, and more 🚀 I've come to realise that startup success isn't solely about financial contributions. Instead, it's about nurturing a symbiotic alliance by partnering with professionals who resonate with their vision, aiding them in harnessing their potential, and guiding them toward sustainable success 🤝 The most successful startups are those that seek more than just monetary backing; they actively search for mentors who align with their vision and can guide their journey 🌱 What’s your opinion on this? Do you agree? #Startups #VentureCapital #Investors #BoardAdvisory

Founder: "I created my startup, where is the money?" Investors: "Create the value first." 🔍 Founders crave funding, but investors demand value. Here's the key: 🌟 Focus on: 1️⃣ Building a solid foundation. 2️⃣ Solving real problems. 3️⃣ Executing with excellence 💡 Remember, funding follows value creation. 💼 By focusing on building a strong foundation, solving real problems, and executing with excellence, you'll not only attract investors but also set your startup on the path to long-term success. Shift your mindset from "Where is the money?" to "How can I create value?" Embrace this approach, and watch your startup thrive! #startupfounders #startup #fundraising #investors #vcfunding

StartUp Pitches - Challenges from an Investor perspective I coach/mentor start-ups and also listen to multiple pitches every week as part of an Investment Council and as an Angel Investor. Do you see similar challenges. Also would love to hear founders perspectives too. Many founders seem to have some broad patterns of challenges while pitching 1. Unstructured and incoherent 2. Lots of slides – Small font and difficult to read 3. Silly TAM, SAM and SOM numbers 4. No analysis of competition 5. Not clear about Moat – why are they different and what gives them protection in future 6. No connecting Story/Narrative 7. Too much detail and run out of time 8. Unclear business model 9. Poor forecasts - Not much rigor on numbers 10. Not clear in terms of funds raise, Utilisation #startups #startup #startupfounders #angelinvestors #startupfunding #startuppitches #pitchdeck

Startup Pitches - A suggested narrative/sequence (Please see my post on Challenges with Pitches) A broad story / narrative always helps and one with a nice flow certainly helps more. A small set of slides that cover most common aspects will be ideal. I have the below narrative in mind. Thoughts / Suggestions pls 1. This is who we are (Team, Advisors etc.) 2. This is the problem we are looking at (Problem Statement) 3. This is why we think it is a problem (stats/metrics) (Market Research/Validation) 4. This is our Solution to the problem (Product/Service.Offering) 5. This is what others are doing to solve the problem (competition) (if any) 6. This is why we think we are doing a better job (Moat) (PoC) 7. This is what we have done so far (Our Journey) 8. This is where we are heading next (Vision, Strategy) 9. This is how we intend to make money (business model/pricing) 10. Our future in numbers (Forecast/Financials/KPIs/Metrics) 11. This is what we need from you (Funds Request, Valuation, Current Cap Table, Instrument) 12. Thanks and Q&A #startups #startup #startupfounders #angelinvestors #startupfunding #startuppitches #pitchdeck https://lnkd.in/eKeZsKxs

Why most angel investing advice will lead you astray? I spoke with prolific angel investor David S. Rose about the common mistakes and misconceptions he sees among new angel investors. 3 Key Takeaways: 1. Success requires building a broad deal flow, having a clear thesis, and rigorously analyzing opportunities. 2. Bet on determined founders over “hot” industries you don’t understand. 3. Join an angel group to access deals, expertise and co-investment opportunities. David’s book "Angel Investing" remains an invaluable guide for new angels on how to invest skillfully. #angelinvesting #startups #foundersecrets
