Sharing this brilliant post from Mastodon, in response to the xz hack. Among the major problems with open spice software is how companies have chosen to: 1. Not fund or support it, as if enterprise quality code just mysteriously appears for free - you know, the same way cars do. 2. Assume that because it was published it must somehow be safe to use - just like everything else published online. Not to say that closed source software is any better, but there really needs to be some level of understanding and ownership for validation of code, which at present companies neither have the expertise or the budget to do so before including OSS code in their products. This will continue to be a risk until big changes occur. Link goes to the post. https://lnkd.in/gQYs8PjF

Daily Dev: Day 274 Continued implementing 'debounce,' finding similarities with 'throttle.' Recognized its usefulness, particularly in scenarios like preventing multiple API calls when users input into a search bar. Also, gained a better understanding of fiber nodes and how state management functions within them. #dailyDev

Exploring ELIP-002: How EigenLayer's New Slashing Mechanism Could Transform Operator Accountability via EigenLayer What's the buzz about ELIP-002? EigenLayer's latest proposal, ELIP-002, is shaking things up with a new slashing mechanism for Operators. This aims to boost reliability and user trust in Application Verification Services (AVSs) by penalizing Operators who don't meet service standards. Key features include Unique Stake and Operator Sets. Community reactions are mixed. Jonathan-P2P suggests isolating risk with "Unique Stake" to avoid widespread slashing, while matt.nelson notes that deregistration is instant but doesn't exempt Operators from slashing. Remember, deallocation has a 14-day delay to keep stakes slashable. Dive into the ELIP-002 doc and GitHub for more details!

Most people in these days are working with containerized applications, orchestrators, schedulers. These technologies evolved a lot and looking at the past, from the time of chroot environments, systemd-nspawn, docker, rkt, the first CoreOS with The Apache Software Foundation Mesos, the intent of HashiCorp Nomad, Docker, Inc Swarm, nice memories. Then the OpenContainer Initiative and today the Kubernetes main role in the current scenario for cloud native technologies and platforms! We have to remember that the OCI is not just about LXE, rkt, docker, podman, containerd, but also about CRI-O, a container runtime interface that can easily run under our favorite orchestration tool. Are you ready to try the new improvements? And why not on kubernetes? CRI-O 1.31 .... Kubernetes 1.31 ... today is Thursday ... A plan for this weekend?
🚀 #CRI-O v1.31.0 has been released! This brand new version contains a large list of cool new features, bug fixes and smaller enhancements. 🛠️ Check out all the exciting updates and improvements in the field of #Kubernetes compliant container runtimes: https://lnkd.in/dJDtGaix
