It’s surprising how many people aren’t sure what to do when faced with a non-emergency situation that requires police attention. Many ask, "Should I call 000?" or wonder what number they should dial if there’s no immediate danger. This confusion is completely understandable, but it’s important to know how to respond correctly. Here’s a breakdown of when and how to contact the police in Western Australia: 1️⃣ In an Emergency (Threat to Life or Property) When there’s an immediate risk, such as a medical emergency, fire, or an ongoing crime, dial 000. This number is for emergencies only and ensures that urgent help is dispatched as quickly as possible. 2️⃣ Non-Emergency Situations For incidents that still require police attention but aren’t life-threatening, WA residents are encouraged to call 131 444. This will connect you with the Western Australia Police Force, who can route your call to the appropriate department or team. This number is ideal for situations such as reporting suspicious activity, non-urgent property damage, or seeking advice from the police. It’s crucial to reserve 000 for genuine emergencies to ensure that immediate resources are available for those in need. Knowing the difference between these two numbers can help save lives and streamline responses for non-emergency situations. Let’s help keep our community safe by ensuring we know when and how to report incidents effectively! #police #crime #tips #security #EDGESecurityWA #perth #safety

As we go about our daily lives in Ontario, it's easy to overlook the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep us safe. But today, I want to shine a spotlight on these unsung heroes – our security professionals! From the security guard who greets you at the mall to the emergency responders who rush to save lives, these dedicated individuals put themselves on the line every day to protect us. Imagine being the first responder to a medical emergency or the calm voice that de-escalates a tense situation. Security professionals are more than just uniforms – they're our neighbors, friends, and family members who choose to serve and protect. I just wanted to take a quick moment to give a kudos to all security professionals, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders working tirelessly to keep Ontario safe – THANK YOU for: - Your compassion - Your dedication - Your bravery A question I've often heard is what are some of the things you can do to make a difference? Here are a few things everyone can do to help out security professionals: 1. Smile and thank a security guard today! 2. Report suspicious activity to authorities. 3. Support local security initiatives. 4. Share stories of security heroes. #SecurityProfessionals #SecurityMatters #Ontario #SafetyFirst #Community #Security #LawEnforcement #EmergencyResponse #UnsungHeroes #ThankYou

The security industry in Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory, has been criticized for perpetuating and intensifying crises it claims to address. Bureaucrats and NGOs profit from crime and violence, turning it into a profitable industry. This system functions similarly to the United States, where bureaucratic entities and NGOs keep the machinery of crime running by drawing substantial funding from various levels of government. The rise in crime in the Northern Territory is a result of policy decisions made by NGOs and bureaucrats profiting from crime. Security professionals face a significant burden as they adapt to a more dangerous landscape, dismissing basic principles of deterrence and discipline. The solution lies in demanding accountability from NGOs and bureaucracies, pushing for policies prioritizing public safety over political narratives, and encouraging a shift from dependency to empowerment. #NGO #Security #MalevolentVirtrue #Interventionism #crime #juvenilecrime #waste

LEZero! A gut-wrenching situation to be in; I feel for that SJPD Officer. I have dealt with similar situations when working protection in Federal law enforcement. Yes, LEOs all have the authority to make an arrest in that situation, but it's probably not a good idea as it takes the agent away from protection. It's best practice to have a driver with the vehicle who can act as a backup protection agent in a pinch. Ultimately, this will become a greater problem as we continue to lose LEOs to retirement, can't fill existing LEO vacancies, public officials are harassed or threatened in public more, and even when there is an urgent request for #lawenforcement there won't be any available to respond, I call that law enforcement zero (LEZero). It's the new world.
In the interest of forever red-teaming our actions and their impact as risk-mitigation professionals, there are certainly some lessons that can be learned from this incident. Context: At 6pm on 4/23/2024, the Mayor of San Jose was attempting to provide an interview to local media outside of an event he was attending in downtown SJ, supported by a solo protective agent from SJPD who is a full time LEO. This is by *no* means an attempt to degrade or criticize the actions taken here. But, as someone who has worked full time on a protective detail as a law enforcement officer in a past career, there are a tremendous amount of considerations to make for all of us who do this work daily, often in a solo or limited-personnel function. Considerations: was the Mayor’s risk mitigated? What resources could have been employed? Are all actions taken within law and policy (in this case agency policy)? When working in an armed capacity, how is weapon retention considered? Are the tools being employed the most effective? If additional threats presented, how could either the officer or protectee evacuate? How do any of the above affect our Principal, personally or reputationally? Again, hoping as always to push the needle forward on industry throught and use-case. #executiveprotection #siliconvalley

After years in security and the protection field and teaching defensive tactics, I've learned that situational awareness and the ability to read behavioral cues are crucial in identifying potential threats. Mastery of self-defense and de-escalation techniques is essential. Sometimes, even with someone nearby, you might find yourself without backup. The skills to manage these situations effectively are invaluable. #security #executiveprotection #situationalawareness #defensivetactics

In a highly dangerous armed offender incident, that could have ended up significantly worse, a 79 year old man brandishing a handgun & rifle, entered a law firm on the 9th floor of a Sydney CBD building, where he shot a lawyer before fortunately being quickly overpowered by six employees of the law firm. Wednesdays dramatic shooting incident in Sydney’s busy Castlereigh Street, reminds us of the ever present risk of violence & aggression, that can occur with or without warning in our workplaces. If this frightening incident were to occur in your building or individual tenancy today, are you confident that your building management team, or your workplace management team have effective strategies in place. Are you confident that you & your colleagues would know what to do, or how to respond? It is a legislative requirement for building owners / managers, & individual tenant business owners to have developed strategies that will ensure that facilities & workplaces have prepared for, can prevent, are able to respond to, & can recover from emergencies & crisis in a workplace. Here are a few tips for building owners & business owners to consider. Have you: ➡️ Undertaken a Security Risk Assessment to identify all of your risks, threats & vulnerabilities in & around your building / workplace/s? ➡️ Developed contemporary best practice Emergency, Crisis Management & Business Continuity strategies? ➡️ Considered your building & individual tenancy incident notification & messaging systems? ➡️ Provided face-to-face training to all staff? For example: ‘Frontline Safety & Security Awareness’, ‘Active Armed Offender Incident’, ‘Armed Robbery’, ‘Domestic Violence’, or ‘Dealing with Conflict’ training. ➡️ Undertaken testing activities (site & desktop scenarios / exercises) ➡️ Established an effective recovery strategy. If you are ever confronted by an Active Armed Offender Incident in or around your workplace, irrespective of the motivation, your individual & organisations response needs to align with the Australian & NZ nationally approved Escape / Hide / Tell continuum, as well as being conscious that (as occured in this incident) you might need to 'Act' to protect yourself, or others around you if there is absolutely no other option. Everyone deserves to feel safe, & be safe at work…& most importantly, go home from work safely. This is a non negotiable! #crisis #emergency #incident #training #facilitymanagement #buildingmanagement #businessowners #whs #security #risk #securityassessments #testing #armedoffender https://lnkd.in/gZvkgHaW
