Interesting connections made during a breakfast session in #Paris with amazing smart young #entrepreneurs from University of Twente Technische Universiteit Eindhoven Wageningen University & Research and TU Delft under the initiative 4TU.Federation. As #alumni I am always interested to share my feedback and business relations with our #next #generation. Now I feel I am getting old 😉. #Biotech and #Energytransition are hot topics for these entrepreneurs. #innovation #inspiration #ventures #startups #energytransition #digitaltransition #industrytransition EQUANS Bouygues Group
With alumni founded companies like Booking.com, GitLab, Just Eat Takeaway.com, Sqills & UltiMaker it is clear to see that thinking global is part of the Twente DNA! Our entrepreneurs have built a rich legacy that is a big source of pride for the UT community. It is a canon of success stories that continues to be written now by innovative UT/4TU startups pitching in Helsinki, London, Palo Alto & this week also in Paris as part of the Hello Tomorrow mission. These young founders have a key advantage today of being able to leverage our worldwide 4TU alumni network and through special activities tap into the advice, expertise and networks of local alumni who are either themselves entrepreneurs or senior level managers in relevant sectors. How does this work? For example, a small group of alumni joined us bright and early this Thursday in Paris for a speed dating breakfast with a dozen 4TU startups who had an opportunity to fine tune elevator pitches, get input on strategic questions and make useful contacts for the future. It was a very useful morning for them and many thanks to our inspiring alumni coaches: Michael Ausems, Daan Boersma , Jan-Willem Goedvree, Erik Groen & Auke van den Hout. Are these startups perhaps our next Federato, UPFRONT or Glo Dollar? Check them out below! Calling all travel tech founders - it is that time of the year again 😀 If you haven't already heard about the Global Startup Pitch then check it out - it is annual innovation competition organized jointly by Phocuswright and WIT WebInTravel and now running for the third time The first 2 years attracted more than 100 startups each year spread out across 4 regions in the world - and there is transparent and well defined process in place ensuring all startups are treated equally starting with a regional competition which then eventually determine who the global finalists are There is no cost of entering, and even though the deadline for joining is tomorrow - 17th May 2024 - the creator and driving force behind the competion - Siew Hoon Yeoh have extended the deadline for submission by one week if you contact her directly and tell her you saw this post I have been honored to be a judge in this competition the past 2 years, and the level of innovation and creativity on display around the world is truly fascinating - so if you want to measure yourself and your company against other like-minded startups then this is your chance. There are no limitations in terms of what type of service or solution your are developing, and you can be a B2B or B2C focused startup or perhaps be an API centric microservice provider - there is room for you 😀 Given the recent dramatic developments in the GenAI space it would be reasonable to expect a few startups based on this new technology foundation - so if your startup is a hidden gem in the AI space, then perhaps this is the time to surface and show what you have created The travel industry is truly back on its feet and growing rapidly again, and it feels like we are at the beginning of a new 15-20 year cycle of service and product innovation driven by cloud-native and GenAI solutions - if you can recognise yourself in that segment then this could be the time to rise and shine #openinnovation #travelmicroservices #globalstartuppitch https://lnkd.in/dShniq4W

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of speaking at and moderating a session at Moonshot by TechCabal. One of the standout moments was reconnecting with Malobi Ogbechie. Malobi shared an inspiring story about how a piece of advice I gave him two years ago during one of our Founders meetups reshaped his entrepreneurial journey. Back then, he was leveraging his extensive experience in freight forwarding and exploring ways to support micro-exporters. I encouraged him to validate his business offline before going digital. Today, Malobi’s venture, Kadankadan—a Port Harcourt-based logistics-tech company that’s driving export accessibility—is thriving, with a growing client base across Port Harcourt and Lagos. And the best part? They’re gearing up to launch version 1 of their tech solution! Huge congratulations to Malobi and the entire Kadankadan team—your success story truly brightened my day. I believe that Africa's Startup ecosystem will benefit from experienced professionals with extensive knowledge in different sectors getting involved. In other exciting news, I’m thrilled to announce that we have just 3 slots left for Cohort 2 of Scale with Uche Aniche (SwUA 2.0)! 🚀 SwUA is a dynamic 12-week program modelled after TD's Mentor Pitch starting in early November and running through January 2025. It’s designed to help seasoned professionals with deep domain expertise transform their ideas into high-growth ventures while connecting them with the right resources and investor networks. If you’re ready to take your vision to the next level, don’t miss this opportunity. Let’s build the next big thing—together! Please note that it's a paid program - suitable for working professionals who desire to learn how to build a Startup. Leave a comment below if interested and I will share next steps.

🔥 Startup Digest Portugal | big wave of events 🌊 | Week #38 🔥 A newsletter covering all things startup in Portugal A huge wave of events makes it the start of a busy October and it is with great satisfaction that I see delocalized with important events taking place in Guimarães and Coimbra. It is good to see that not only Porto & Lisbon hold relevant entrepreneurial and investment events. Events are a big part of building a community, and it will mean so much for the Portuguese entrepreneurial ecosystem to have solid and active ecosystems beyond the two major cities. The impact of entrepreneurship on local communities can be huge as it contributes to local economic growth and job creation. Overall, entrepreneurship has a significant impact on local communities. It creates job opportunities, stimulates economic growth, and fosters a supportive and connected community. I believe in the power of entrepreneurship to make positive changes in our local communities. 🚨 It’s officially the week of the Techstars Startup Weekend Porto! Startup Genome Founder and President, Marc Penzel, and President of Startup Genome Japan, Hiro Nishiguchi, joined Venture Capitalist Michael Jackson at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 for the Developing Startups session, where they discussed the state of startup ecosystems worldwide. “There are lots of examples where young entrepreneurs went over to Silicon Valley, worked at a Facebook or Google, learned those best practices, and then moved back to Europe and are now building really interesting companies,” Jackson says. “Internationalization isn’t just about bringing international talent, it’s also exposing the local ecosystem and local talent pool to best practices abroad.” View the expert insights to discover how the internationalization of talent is fueling ecosystem growth and what the global startup economy looks like today: https://lnkd.in/et53jdf7 Learn more and register to attend to join us in Tokyo for SusHi Tech 2025 from May 8-10: https://lnkd.in/eYcBWjq8 #STT2024GSP #Tokyo #startups
