Berikan Protein Initiative, as the part of the Berikanesia Lestari consortium, proudly announces its success in securing grant funding from GoTo Impact Foundation. This funding was awarded during the GoTo Innovation Day event held at Artotel Mangkuluhur, Jakarta, from September 30 to October 2, 2024. This project will be implemented in Belitung Island by utilizing former mining land for sustainable aquaculture development. Through this initiative, we aim to optimize local resources and provide solutions to the persistent stunting problem in the region, which currently stands at 18.5% according to the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey. “Our success in securing this grant is the result of hard work and solid collaboration between Berikan Protein Initiative, Ikanesia (PT. Ikanesia Nusantara Akuamarin), and Selaras Muba Lestari. We believe that by utilizing former mining land for aquaculture, we can not only create jobs but also help improve family nutrition by providing access to quality fishery products,” said Khodijah A Zahir, Program Manager of Berikan Protein Initiative. As part of this program, identified beneficiary families in the stunting program will receive economic assistance through the processing of fish into supplementary food products for malnourished children and local food souvenirs from Belitung. In this way, we hope to empower the local community while enhancing their welfare. Berikanesia Lestari consortium successfully secured this funding after a lengthy selection process lasting four months, competing with over thousand participants. We are proud to be the only consortium awarded the grant in the Belitung implementation area and are committed to executing this project with full dedication. We hope that with the support from Go To Impact Foundation, this initiative will have a significant impact on the Belitung community and serve as a model for similar projects in the future.
