This week is a biggie.
Lauren Clemett and I are off to Sydney for the announcement of the national winners in Telstra Best of Business Awards 2024.
It's a big deal.
3 rounds submissions. Detailed, involved questions.
3 person panel interview.
State finalists.
State winners.
National winners????
Eleven years ago, when I started writing Telstra submissions for others, I never thought I'd have a business I could enter into this award. It's such a rigorous process. And it was just me and one contractor pumping out a dozen awards over the year.
Yet, here I am. Here we are. 1500 + award entries later, client business growth, speaking gigs, business deals, media spots, lots of cool success stories.
Lauren and I've worked hard the past 4 years. It's been tough at times...a few bumpy moments. Who starts a new business in a pandemic? And then scales up through the craziness since. Head down, bum up.
You don't see the frustration, heartache, stress and the many fuck ups. You see the pretty outfits and parties. When you have a service based business driven by constant deadlines, it's full on.
We're still building the plane while we fly it. I'm in awe of what we've done. I always thought I'd just plod along, having a good life, but together, we've built something amazing, audacious. Two very different people who teamed up to create something that's had a bigger impact than just winning a few awards for people.
Not giving up, learning from our mistakes and not being afraid to change if something doesn't work is our recipe for success.
Fingers crossed.
