☑️Value vs. Price 🏷️💲
My youngest daughter didn’t want to come to the oldest daughter’s soccer game. However the older kid spoke up and said, “But think of the value of coming, instead of the price”. 😂
The older kid tried to sell her sister on the *value* of coming to cheer for the team. It was hilarious. But it got me thinking:
1) I like that the kids listen, sometimes.
2) She’s right. We recently paid slightly more for an ATV vs. less for a different brand. It was 100% based on reliability and the value (the value I associate with reliability in remote locations vs. a price-decision only).
3) How often do we mistakenly associate value with a product solely because it’s what we ‘know’, rather than considering something we don’t know?
- Do we purchase things because we’re comfortable with them, even if they’re not the best ultimate value?
- Do we have the blinders on at home, or even work? (i.e., when buying an ATV, a vehicle, or perhaps industrial equipment like a transmitter, valve, or chromatograph).
I went shopping for one thing and walked out with something that wasn’t even on my radar to start with. I took the time to learn more because I had an open mind, recognized my own bias, and ultimately where the value really was.
Who’s made a choice to try something new out there?
