I’ve interviewed over 50 leaders in AdTech Here are 5 common traits they share - no.3 is my fav👇 1. Smooth Operators --> Their people skills are off the chart. Put it this way - if you got stuck in a lift with them, you're not going to be bored. 2. Clear Communicators --> They have a talent for breaking down complex problems into simple, actionable insights—whether for their teams, stakeholders, or clients. 3. Networking --> Every leader emphasised the importance of building and maintaining strong professional relationships as a cornerstone of success in AdTech. Check out AdTech Connect, to start your networking journey! 4. Technical Understanding --> They possess a solid grasp of technical concepts, bridging the gap between technology and business needs. 5. Team-First Mentality: --> They never put their success just down to themselves, no, it is always the team they work in that allows them to thrive in that position. Which of these traits do you think are most important? #adtech #programmatic

constant networking, industry knowledge beyond your own product and thinking about what drives progress are the golden keys for any role from the floor to the c-suite

Nice list, Sean—no.2 is a great call-out, in all industries and particularly ours, where we have ongoing nascency. If I may, I'd like to add one more: 6. Brilliant Listeners: --> They talk less and listen more. These leaders are empathetic and open-minded and have the ability to create safe spaces, allowing you to feel heard.

Cameron Armstrong

Marketer with a passion for innovation & advertising which isn’t part of the clutter

Wise words as always mate. One thing I’d add which is so important is curiosity. Willingness to learn, but also question why things are the way they are and if there’s a better way to do it.

CEO, CivicScience Advertising

While #2 is important, I would add somewhat of an inverse: Ability to understand incentives that drive industry & platform dynamics, and a keen sense to distinguish sales messaging found in most public communications (panels, pods, posts, etc) from reality

Lisa de Araujo

Product Management Leader | AdTech, NLP, ML, AI

All fantastic traits, but for me in a product role, a team-first mentality and clear communication tick the top boxes!
