✅ #RenewableEnergy | The European Hydrogen Week knows the “enormous possibilities” of #Navarra in Green Hydrogen Two projects related to #greenhydrogen are already underway in the Autonomous Community of Navarra. The first one is led by ACCIONA Plug and foresees the construction of a 25 MW electrolyzer that will be able to produce a total of 3,880 tons of green hydrogen per year. For this purpose, a total associated investment of 87 million euros is foreseen. Secondly, Nordex Electrolyzers is carrying out an important project of common European interest (IPCEI) consisting of the development of electrolyzers with its own technology (Alkaline). This implementation will count on an investment of 70 million euros accumulated in 8 years and will create 150 direct jobs. “Green hydrogen will not only become a source for our industry to decarbonize, but will also bring value to our community,” said Mikel Irujo Amezaga, Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition. #InvestInNavarra Gobierno de Navarra 📲💻 [All details] 👇

💬 The Basque Country's leadership in renewable hydrogen: an opportunity for the energy transition 🌍🔋 🌱 #hydrogen #energytransition #BasqueCountry #sustainability #BasqueHydrogenCorridor. 🔍 As a hydrogen expert, I follow closely the Basque Hydrogen Corridor project, a pioneering initiative in Europe. The Basque Country, with its powerful industrial fabric and its commitment to sustainability, is positioned as a leader in the development of green hydrogen. 🏭 The decarbonization of heavy industry, a challenge for the whole of Europe, finds in hydrogen a viable solution. The Basque Country, with 25% of its GDP coming from energy-intensive industry, has much to gain from this bet. 🔗 But the Basque Hydrogen Corridor goes further. It aims to create a complete hydrogen ecosystem, encompassing production, transport, storage and end use in mobility and industry. This comprehensive vision, embodied in 49 concrete projects, is the key to its success. I highlight the strong institutional support and public-private collaboration that underpin this project. The union of companies, technology centers, universities and public administrations makes it possible to combine efforts and resources to achieve the ambitious objectives. 🇪🇸 The Basque initiative is not limited to its own territory. It is part of the Ebro Hydrogen Corridor, an alliance with other Spanish regions to promote renewable hydrogen in southern Europe. This cross-border cooperation is vital to maximize the impact of this technology. 📈 The short-term results are ambitious: to produce 21,000 tons per year of green hydrogen, reduce CO2 emissions by 230,000 tons and invest 1.1 billion euros over the next decade. 🏆 The Basque Country's leadership in green hydrogen is an opportunity for all of Spain. This project demonstrates the viability of the energy transition and can serve as a model for other regions. The winning of the Hydrogen Valley of the Year 2022 award by the Basque Hydrogen Corridor is a well-deserved recognition of its strategic vision, collaborative work and tangible results. 🔭 Let's follow the progress of this initiative closely. The Basque Country is leading the way to a clean and sustainable future powered by green hydrogen.

Hy5 is recognized as "a reference partner for development, realization and operation of green hydrogen and eFuel assets, enabling decarbonization of hard to abate sectors", according to the Spanish leading newspaper Expansión. In today’s #hydrogen special, our CEO, Alberto Sánchez de Rojas, outlines clearly the groundbreaking role Hy5 has in the emerging green hydrogen industry. It is a very complex environment, whereby many fundamentals are still uncertain, unclear and under development, just to mention: 📃 Regulation 📈 Subsidies 🏭 Technology 🍃 Availability of renewable energy Despite these challenges, Hy5 is 100% committed to realize its tall ambition to achieve an installed capacity of 1.5GW of electrolysis capacity by 2035. Besides serving green hydrogen markets, Hy5 will use its #hydrogen also to produce so called #eFuels, such as #eMethanol, green #Ammonia and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (#SAF). This will mark a material contribution to #decarbonize energy intense industries and (heavy duty) mobility in its broadest sense, i.e. including #shipping and #aviation. Hy5 is fortified by the steadfast support of its parent company, White Summit Capital (WSC), a private investment fund renowned for its commitment to decarbonization. With over EUR 2 billion invested in #decarbonization assets, WSC is spearheading the transition towards a sustainable future. Excitingly, WSC is launching a new Article 9 Fund, bolstered by a EUR 150 million facility from the esteemed European Investment Fund (EIF). We will have some relevant developments that will be announced within soon. Follow us to stay tuned. #energytransition European Investment Bank (EIB) #energy #renewableenergy #energy

LinkedIn wouldn’t let me comment on this post, so I’ve reposted it with my comments: It would be good to hear more details of the project because there are some potential downsides. There should be no need to use greenfield space, which the local community wish to retain. The Council appear to be conflicted as planning agency and project partners BP appear to be conflicted as project developers and Council advisors on the energy transition. The first phase looks quite small, although subsequent phases could be larger. It’s unclear what the renewable energy source is and how it’s use for hydrogen (at this location) is better than being used directly for electrical power. Green hydrogen has a place in the energy transition, but proably where a high volume of renewable generation is close to a significant (industrial) demand, that is otherwise hard to abate. (BPs own strategy says the same). Aberdeen has been running hydrogen transport for more than 10 years already. I can’t find any of these details in the various links. But I’d be happy to meet and learn more.
I'm proud to announce we have secured investment to build the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub - a pioneering project that is set to produce green hydrogen from solar and wind to power transport in the Aberdeen region. This landmark development aims to support low carbon hydrogen sector growth by working with local suppliers, training and skills providers, and communities. It is a key component of bp's Backing Britain ambition - investing both in the energy systems needed in the UK today and for future. At its core, the JV company is set to produce around 1,000 kg/d green hydrogen from 2026 for supply into local transport and potentially industrial offtake too. Aberdeen has one of the most divers vehicle fleets of any public sector body – including hydrogen powered buses, refuse collection, trucks, vans, and cars. Support from many has allowed this project to come together over the course of the last few years, including partners Aberdeen City Council, Scottish and UK governments, and team bp. The below image brings this project to life, showing the location of our planned solar and green hydrogen facilities. Please also see our website for more information. https://lnkd.in/efQZ8-ua The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub is more than just a project. It is set to help demonstrate that low carbon hydrogen can be produced at scale, cost-effectively, safely, and that it can play a vital role in decarbonising our economy and society. Through this project I’m hoping we can help inspire and enable other regions and countries to embrace the potential of hydrogen. I'm proud to be part of this journey, and I hope you are too.
