𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 - 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠, 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 Last week was a whirlwind of inspiration and learning as I attended two remarkable events on 18 June: Export Day 2024 organised by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and "Crisis project management with 9 million stakeholders - how does it work?" by the PMI Austria Chapter. Exporttag 2024, themed "beyond the box", offered invaluable insights directly from politicians, international institutions and innovators. Discussions ranged from the economic outlook and energy transitions to the artificial intelligence revolution and the hydrogen economy. It was a day packed with knowledge and forward-thinking ideas. In parallel, the PMI Austria event focused on crisis management from a project management perspective, highlighting the importance of clear objectives, fact-based decisions, thorough documentation, proactive communication and flexibility. These takeaways are not only applicable to major crises, but are also essential for everyday project management and personal growth. Summer's longer days and abundant sunshine naturally energise us, promoting wellbeing and productivity. This season is perfect for harnessing that energy for professional development and networking. Day #10 of the #IkigaiChallenge – Meaningful Work: A Project That Matters When we talk about meaningful work, it’s more than just completing a task. It’s about engaging in something that has real impact—both immediately and for the bigger picture. One recent project that resonated with me was the proposal I helped collate and assemble through I Need an Expert for CTAP alongside Andre Rheeder and Andrew van Zyl. CTAP’s mission is close to my heart: it’s about empowering SMEs and driving socio-economic transformation. Working on this proposal, I was reminded of the immense potential these small businesses have in creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and building stronger communities. However, it takes careful planning and a deep understanding of community dynamics to turn this potential into reality. The task of assembling and refining the proposal wasn’t just about hitting deadlines or checking off a list. It was about strategising for sustainable change and creating a framework that could have a lasting impact on lives and livelihoods. The thought that this work could help CTAP reach new heights in its mission gave it a significance that went beyond the document itself. This is the kind of work that fuels me—knowing that, in some way, I’m contributing to a vision for a more empowered, self-sufficient future. When our efforts help support the building blocks of communities, that’s where the true value lies. What about you?
