Let’s take a closer look at our exhibition sponsor Leanne Kelly, mortgage and financial solutions expert at Connect Financial Services to find out more about why she is supporting us for a 2nd year at the Scottish Growth Summit 2025. Why did you sponsor the summit? I’ve always loved supporting women in business. So an event that is run by women for women that brings together hundreds of women in business is always going to be a bit of me. I supported the event last year and I had such an amazing day that I just knew that I wanted to be involved again so here I am. It’s always so nice to be there first hand to see businesswomen being inspired. The smiles on their faces when they take away a golden nugget of information or an action plan after listening to speakers or being involved in workshops is something that is priceless. I’m glad that I’m doing my small part in making that happen. What are you looking forward to? I can’t wait to meet everyone there and make connections. It’s what my business is all about and me as a person. I love helping people realise that finances don’t have to be scary, especially if you approach them in a down to earth way. So if I chat to even one person who may have something that I can help with at some point in their life then I’m happy and even if not I’m sure I’ll make some new friends along the way. I can’t wait to learn myself too. Being in the room with so many inspirational women you always come away with something valuable for yourself. My granny always said never stop learning and I intend to keep that promise to her. So 2025 SGS bring it on! Fancy joining us for an action-packed, inspirational day at the Scottish Growth Summit? Head to the link in our bio now to find out more. #SGS2025 #ScottishGrowthSummitSponsor #ScottishWomenInBusiness #ScottishGrowthSummit

To all those women in my life who are inspiring, strong, brave, and fierce- I salute you. To all those rockstar women juggling a million things including unrealistic expectations, unfair work environments, caring for others, and difficult times - I see you and am in awe of you! To all those that I have learned from, been supported by, cheered me on and stood by me- I thank you ! I have the great privilege of working with the most incredible female business owners and I see how passionate they are, how they drive their businesses forward, thriving despite the endless juggle and challenges thrown at them, and how supportive they are of all around them. My pledge to you is that I will always be there to support you and help your business thrive. I will also do my best to ensure as many women as possible have access to social media training. I believe social media can open up so many doors for women. It enables women to start up businesses and achieve flexible working. It gives women a voice. It allows them to follow their dreams. It provides connection and inspiration. It allows them to work around the kids. One way I offer this is by working with several charities supporting mums in need and offering free social media training to them. Since I started my courses, I have reserved a space on every single course for a woman who needs a helping hand. I also give local blogs and charities free spaces in my courses to offer as a competition frequently so that despite financial constraints, I can help small business owners thrive. (If you know a female business owner who is going through a difficult time right now and needs a helping hand, please DM me privately as I want to help) I believe social media is a great equaliser and can offer huge opportunities for any business (regardless of size or budget) but specifically female business owners who are looking for more flexible working. So in celebration of International Women’s Day - please shout out to all the female business owners that inspire you below👇 Poem @thechampagnediet #iwd2024 #inspireinclusion #internationalwomensday2024 #choosetochallenge #womenrock #femalebusinessowner #mumpreneur #womenimspiringwomen

The Harsh Truth About the Event Industry The event industry is predominantly made up of women who do most of the work to plan and organize events. But there's a big problem: Women don’t receive enough financial support to start their own event businesses. Few women hold top positions in major event companies. We need to change this 💪🏻 Let’s celebrate and uplift the women making waves in the event industry. Together, we can push for real change and ensure that all voices are heard and valued. #eventprofs #meetingsplanner #eventplanner #eventmanagement #womenintech #startuplife #funding #eventindustry #womeninbusiness #genderequality #diversityandinclusion #womenempowerment #womeninleadership #femaleentrepreneurs #conferenceconnect

When women collaborate! Huge congratulations to those who drove this 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Very emotional for those women that deserve this - and who suffered this week. I am on a call now with a 300 strong women’s group supporting this. Just wow! We have the power to make change and we must continue for the next generation of women. Women deserve equal - if not greater access to funding where projects aim to offer inclusion. 2% of funding is why we are not reaching sustainability targets. We must move past the the “do they look and sound like me?” (unconscious) bias in funding success. This success needs to be a timeline of change for change to women’s funding! ***update*** Since 2016, our Innovate UK Women in Innovation programme has played a vital role in strengthening the UK’s innovation system. We’ve worked hard to develop this unique programme, and we care about its success deeply. For this year’s Women in Innovation awards, we said that we’d fund a portfolio of up to 50 projects. Last week, we communicated that 25 applicants had been successful for funding. As public funders, we must manage our budgets carefully. The decision to only award this number was a mistake and we prioritised wrongly. We recognise the impact this has had on the many applicants, and on the community as a whole, and we apologise wholeheartedly. We confirm we will be funding a total of 50 awards. This represents a total investment of £4m for the current cohort, as originally committed. As well as confirming 50 awards, we also want to reassure everyone who applied that we remain committed to supporting and increasing opportunities across the system for women innovators. We will be contacting all applicants to highlight how they can access support… We apologise again for the concern and frustration that we have caused.” ❌ Your time is up, Innovate UK. You've messed with the wrong women ❌ @InnovateUK has broken its promise to female founders for the final time. We can't and won't stand for this any more. The ‘Women in Innovation Awards’ promised that 50 female-founded and female-led businesses would receive a £75k grant and package of support, from a funding pot of £4 million. 1,452 women applied for the award; but only 25 awards have been granted. Assuming each grant is £75,000, this is a total of £1,875,000. This leaves £2,125,000 unfunded at present 💸 📢 This isn't good enough. We're calling for change 📢 Let's Fund More Women is urging Innovate UK to: 💰 Commit to fully utilising the remaining funding and awarding the 25 grants 🗣️ Engage in dialogue with us to address the issues raised and implement necessary reforms 🔎 Acknowledge the shortcomings and review the process 🚀 Launch a redesigned award program for 2025, with more funding committed Join the Let's Fund More Women movement. Share this post. Write to your MP. Put the pressure on. If you’re one of this year’s unsuccessful applicants, please complete our survey >>>

For the past few months, I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to transform an idea into something tangible—an idea that brings together a community of powerful women into a single, impactful product. Today, I’m proud to introduce you to Unreserved. Unreserved: Raw. Real. Unreserved: Rewriting the Rules of Business Unreserved is a collection of stories from 20 remarkable women who are rewriting the rules of business and life. Each chapter is a testament to the power of resilience, courage, and transformation with the goal of providing a portable support system and a sense of belonging for women around the world. This book is designed to inspire women across industries, providing them with a community they can carry with them—a source of guidance, support, and empowerment. More than just a book, Unreserved is a movement. It’s a platform for women to share their stories, amplify their voices, and challenge the traditional definitions of success. Through the powerful journeys of our authors, this book shows what it means to live and work without limits. This is Unreserved—a place where women break barriers, redefine success, and lead unapologetically. If you want to be part of this movement, be a published author and create real, significant impact around the world, we are now accepting author application, until November 15th, 2024. This #internationalwomensday #iwd2024 we're highlighting ways to support women who are not only developing innovations to address major public needs, but scaling them to new heights 🚀. Challenge prizes arguably have a great ability to recognise and reward solutions from “unusual suspects,” and can prove highly supportive of women entrepreneurs. Based on rich evidence from the Challenge Works Afri-Plastics Prize, here's how you can design challenges to bolster women innovators and their economic contribution, and support them in scaling their businesses to new heights: 1. Inclusive Design: ensuring women are encouraged to participate and have equal opportunities to succeed. 2. Engagement and Awareness: providing support and resources to facilitate women's participation, from targeted outreach, to capacity-building initiatives, and networking opportunities. 3. Flexible Solutions: women may face unique challenges and constraints in participating in challenge prizes, such as caregiving responsibilities or limited access to resources. Prize structures should be flexible enough to accommodate diverse needs and allow for innovative solutions that address these challenges. 4. Collaboration and Partnerships: with relevant stakeholders, including women-led organisations, community groups, and government agencies to ensure challenge prizes effectively support women. 5. Recognition and Visibility: celebrating the contributions of women participants in challenge prizes, providing them with visibility and opportunities for professional development and networking. 🌟 On this International Women's Day, let's shine a spotlight on the incredible impact of women entrepreneurs in shaping the business landscape. Women entrepreneurs bring a unique blend of resilience, innovation, and passion to the table, creating a positive ripple effect that transforms industries and communities. Their ability to navigate challenges with grace and determination is truly inspiring. Globally, there are 252 million women who have chosen the path of an entrepreneur, and 153 million of them (roughly 60%) have established their businesses. From breaking barriers to challenging stereotypes, women entrepreneurs are architects of change, fostering diversity and inclusion. Their ventures not only contribute to economic growth but also embody the spirit of collaboration and empowerment. From Madam C.J. Walker to Melanie Perkins, let's recognize and celebrate the trailblazing women who lead with purpose, turning dreams into reality. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, women entrepreneurs pave the way for future generations, proving that success knows no gender. Here's to the women who dare to dream, disrupt, and make a lasting difference in the business world. . . . #InternationalWomensDay2024 #InvestInWomen #IWD2024 #AccelerateProgress
