🚨 Beware of Digital Arrest Scams: What They Are & How to Stay Safe 🚨 Have you heard of a Digital Arrest Scam? It’s when scammers impersonate police, government officials, or regulators to falsely accuse you of a crime and threaten arrest. The goal? To create fear and force you to transfer money or share sensitive information.Example: Fraudster will call your parents or your loved ones claiming that you are involved in Sex Racket or Claiming that they are from CBI or Income tax department claiming that Inquiry is going against you. So they will black mail you for the same through use of AI tools. Important: Arrests NEVER Happen Online! No real law enforcement or government agency will arrest you or demand money over the phone or internet. If you receive such threats, it’s a scam! 📌 Real Cases of Fraud in India: 1. Scientist Loses ₹71.33 Lakhs: Scammers posed as CBI, TRAI, and ED officials to con a scientist into transferring money. 2. A Mother’s Heartbreaking Loss 💔: In a tragic case, a mother passed away from stress-induced heart failure after scammers, pretending to be police, threatened her family. 3. A ₹7 Crore Scam Targeting a Businessman 💼: The head of Vardhman Group was scammed out of ₹7 crores when criminals posed as law enforcement and made false accusations. 💡 How to Stay Safe & Steps to Take: 1. Verify, Don’t Panic: If someone claiming to be an official contacts you, take a breath. Official authorities will never demand immediate action over calls or messages. Always verify their identity by calling back through official numbers. 2. Understand the Red Flags 🚩: High-pressure tactics, immediate demands, and threats of arrest are all signs of a scam. Real officials follow a legal process, not phone threats. 3. Talk About These Scams with Loved Ones: Educate friends and family, especially those who may be less aware of such tactics, like elderly family members. 4. Report Suspicious Activity: If you receive a threatening call or message, immediately report it to the police or via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal: [cybercrime.gov.in](https://cybercrime.gov.in). ⚠️ Spread Awareness to Prevent Digital Scams ⚠️ With more people becoming victims of these scams daily, it’s crucial to stay alert and share this message to protect others.
