We all know that gathering data about how our team feels is essential, but it's often difficult to know what to do with it once we've got it. This is a great read from HBR, packed full of useful advice. Some highlights for me? 1. It's not survey fatigue that kills employee engagement, but 'inaction fatigue' 2. Use survey results as the springboard to explore more. Don't assume you know the reason, ask 3. Prioritise your response, don't try to do it all - loving the 1-2-3 model (Choose 1 topic, do 2 things, check in for progress 3 times) 4. Show your workings out - explain how you've come to the decisions you make. https://lnkd.in/ehPxfdBb? #employeeengagement #employeesurveys #managingpeople

Its Employee Voice season at LinkedIn (our employee engagement survey), and i found this Harvard Business Review article on turning employee feedback into action really helpful as we think through action planning. Sharing a couple of my key takeaways; 1) There are some interesting best practices from Microsoft highlighted, including how they use specialized listening teams, and how they frame taking action on feedback as a responsibility of the whole team, not just the manager. 2) “Survey Fatigue” is a misnomer, “Inaction Fatigue” is what is really happening. 3) When sharing out action plans, its important to communicate the decision making criteria used by leaders, and demonstrate how differing viewpoints influenced the final decision on what actions to take. 4) It can be hard for line managers to address things that they have no power over or feel may not be the best use of company resources. As a result they often ignore negative feedback on things that are outside of their control which can lead to employees distrusting the feedback process. Consequently it is important for senior leaders to acknowledge negative feedback, and champion addressing any particularly difficult issues raised 5) Lots of companies are leveraging #AI in the employee listening process. One example was having AI reframe negative or emotionally charged complaints into constructive feedback that included reccomendations or actions that could be taken. 6) Given today most teams are working at or over full capacity, Leaders need to deprioritize other initiatives in order to prioritize employee engagement initiatives. Have you had breakthrough success with any employee engagement action plans? I would love to hear about it! #EmployeeEngagement #EmployeeListening #HarvardBusinessReview #HBR #LinkedIn

I recently conducted a poll on the responsibility for Employee Engagement, and a resounding 76% of respondents agreed: it's everyone's responsibility, with 14% HR/People Team and 10% Leaders/Managers. Let's challenge ourselves to reflect on these insights, engage in meaningful discussions, and take concrete steps to create workplaces where every individual feels valued, empowered, and motivated to deliver their best. Here are a few conversation starters.. - How well are we communicating and reinforcing our company’s vision in our everyday work lives? - Are we making resource decisions that really support our employees' well-being and engagement? - Do our HR policies actually promote growth, recognition, and inclusivity for everyone? - Are there ways we can improve our HR practices to ensure fair opportunities for advancement and recognition? - How can we cut down on bureaucracy to help our teams innovate and make a real impact? - Are there any tools or technologies we could use to make things run more smoothly without hurting quality or satisfaction? - How well are we using technology to boost productivity, collaboration, and creativity every day? - Are our digital tools user-friendly and meeting the needs of our diverse team? - How can we better use employee feedback to improve our customer satisfaction? - How can we empower frontline employees to provide great customer service by showing them their impact? - What can I do daily to help create a positive workplace culture with my actions and interactions? - Am I actively looking for ways to grow and learn to benefit both myself and the company? #employeeengagement #employeeexperience #equalitydiversityinclusion #leadership #mydevelopment #coaching #workplaceculture
