Success is not a moment in time, it’s a journey. And it requires sustained energy and motivation. So in recent weeks, our team has been exploring how we achieve both high and ‘optimal’ performance - considering not just occasional peaks but also sustained excellence. While all of us naturally cannot be at our best 100% of the time, each of us has the capacity to attain optimal performance. This approach puts a greater focus on personal well-being and periods of recovery – the secret to thriving CONSISTENTLY in the face of life’s challenges. We recently completed a dipstick check-in with our Europe People and Culture team at The Coca-Cola Company - and while we recognize the great results we achieved, we see a lot of opportunities to support everyone to achieve optimal performance. There are a few building blocks we can start with, like clarifying and aligning priorities, boldly cutting unnecessary workload, and ensuring everyone’s wellbeing continues to be at the heart of everything that we do. I truly believe the first 7 employees are one of the biggest factors in determining a company’s success. 💡 For me, the first few hires are everything. These early teammates don’t just fill roles—they set the tone for the entire company. They define our culture, set the bar for work ethic, and shape the identity of who we are and how we operate. What I find surprising is that in many conversations with investors, there’s so much focus on product, market fit, and growth strategies, yet very little emphasis on a team’s ability to build, scale, and manage an organization. For me, this is one of the most critical elements of any startup’s success—your ability to grow an internal organization can make or break your company. This leads to one of my core beliefs: there are always two products to build in any company—the one for your customers, and the one within your organization, your team. Startups often overlook how vital it is to build a strong internal team, but this is where the real magic happens. 🪄 Today, I’m excited to welcome Tyler Shortt to the team as our VP of Revenue. Tyler’s 16+ years of experience, especially in the wine and spirits industry, make him the perfect addition to Hippie Water. Celebrating 2 Years of Growth and Impact at Pernod Ricard 🍾 Today marks 2 incredible years of #anniversary at Pernod Ricard a journey filled with #learning, #collaboration, #care and #achievement. Before joining Pernod Ricard, I have been focusing on #engagement with third parties, customers and consumers, but never with internal employees. What I can say so far about internal engagement is that it is at the same time the most difficult and rewarding one to lead. Until now I’ve had the privilege of contributing to enabling personalized peer-to-peer #sharing and #SelfUpskilling of the #Commercial population in the Group with my team. At Pernod Ricard, this #Change & #Mindset intitiative is called STAR VOICE. In a nutshell it is: 🌐 1 Global #Sales #Community with +650 relevant members spread in all of our 60+ entities including Sales, #GeneralManagement, #Transformation, #TradeMarketing, etc. 🎥 +10 Global Sales Community Calls so far, all focusing on key #business topics and gathering +150 participants in average each time. 📚 1 #BestPractice Library with +200 easy to replicate and proven best practice initiatives to #SaveTime and #Money shared from the markets and central functions visited +50K times. ✅ +80 best practices successfully replicated across the world, and probably many more that we need to track! 🚀 And... 1 truly global team dedicated to add #value to the #business! These accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of my great #leader and #mentor Miroslava Simova and our team members. Also a special thanks to my numerous colleagues, at the headquarters and in the markets, who help me to #grow everyday. I’m proud to reflect on these 2 years of growth, not just professionally but personally. Much like crafting a fine beer, this year has been a harmonious blend of complexity, innovation, and fulfilment. Key Lessons on Tap: 1. Let’s explore the impact of empowerment 💪 Kersia, inventing a food safe world ‘s Committed & Different Committee brings together 67 ambassadors within ~2,300 employees globally 🌍 who are committed to making change for the greater good. I went to my first Committed and Different event in Paris a few weeks ago and some key things really stood out to me. ❗There was no business-led hierarchy which allowed everyone to work together side by side, from the interns to the CEO 🤝 This means that there is a totally different dynamic. There is no need to get buy-in because everyone is already engaged and motivated. This led to quicker decision making, and stronger impact. As team leaders we often think we know the best way of achieving an end goal. But this was my reminder that there is always a different way of doing things. Many roads lead to Rome (🚀be brave) Just imagine what’s possible when teams are empowered to own and address an issue or cause. Seeing how quickly our team members came together to support our colleagues in Brazil following the awful flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, is a great example of this. 🥳 From organising bake sales to wearing the colours of the Brazilian flag 🟢🟡🔵 someone even ran the Manchester 10k with two weeks’ notice 🏅 Often CSR can be a tick-box exercise but through this initiative, our team are the driving force for change.
