This whole conversation is terrific. Of note from a performance psych perspective were Dr. Woo’s reflections: - A system itself can be motivating or demotivating. - Contextual factors shape peoples’ performances - teammates, peers, leaders, etc - Ultimately we ought to want performance management to motivate employees (All hit around the 12:30 mark.) It all leaves me thinking, “What does your performance management approach and data tell you about org culture? Does your performance management approach motivate or demotivate?” Subtle and powerful insights in this conversation.
