Did you know that at the end of our leases, CIL donates the homes back to the service providers? For us, the work we do is about more than just building homes; it's about building stronger communities. We're excited to announce that this past June, CIL donated a home in Lakeville, MA, and three homes in Brockton, MA to BAMSI. CIL also handed over the keys to a home in Norton, MA to Horace Mann Educational Associates. At CIL, we believe in designing for everyone. That means creating homes that are accessible and welcoming to all. That’s why we strive to incorporate universal design principles, ensuring our homes can accommodate residents of all ages and abilities. From accessible bathrooms and extra-wide hallways to lift-supporting trusses, every detail is thoughtfully designed to allow residents to "age in place" and live comfortably. I admire Catherine Furness for creating my community’s third place. When I moved into my current neighbourhood back in 2018, I threw myself into community building through our residents association. I took on a leadership role, organizing clean-ups, garden tours, summer parties, and community meetings. Fast forward to 2024, I am now a dad to an incredible toddler. Every day, he wants to go to the playground up the street to ride the slide and see his toddler buddies. Despite living here for years, it was only recently that I became curious about the park's name and its origins. I discovered that the park exists because Catherine Furness donated her home and land to the city of Halifax in perpetuity. She didn't leave it to family, sell it, or rent it out; she donated it to enhance the quality of life for her community for generations to come. What a hero. Because of this park, I know dozens of neighbors and their kids. We invite each other to barbecues and birthday parties. Our lives are insurmountably richer because of her generosity. A third place is a space outside of home or office where you see familiar faces repeatedly. This consistent familiarity breeds deeper bonds and relationships. As we build LAUFT, we think about the concept of the third space and what it means for people. How can we make people feel more welcome? How can we break down barriers? How do we help people connect? Catherine Furness is a huge inspiration to me and continues to influence my work in creating a new kind of third place for people with the freedom to work from anywhere. #MakeSmartWork #WorkFromAnywhere #DistributedWork #RemoteWork #HybridWork #RTO #Community #ThirdPlace

Today was a very special day. Ten and a half years later we were able to celebrate the opening of Dave’s Dream. The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre had a beautiful ribbon cutting/opening today. Everyone’s word and appreciation of not only the building but what it represents for youth in our community was amazing. I have so much pride in this project, the team we worked with ( Lesley Watson Mike Watson ) our consultant (BPA, CJE, Novatech) amazing clients ( Kevin Crawford and Mike Beauchesne and construction team at Laurin construction. It is bittersweet to see this all wrap up but we can wait for everyone to move in and continue to make a difference. The fundraising campaign “Village of Hope” is still ongoing. Please reach out to Cindy Manor to see how you can help. #dsytc #davesdream #youthtreatmentcentre #community #ottawa #ottawaarchitects #ruralsite #villageofhope #mentalhealthmatters #grandopening Project photos to follow soon. https://lnkd.in/eKj7qX_W

HomeClub looks at hundreds of articles every day. We choose the best ones to share with our readers. This gives you a quick look at what's happening in the home improvement industry. The article below is one we picked. Community revitalization efforts can have a profound impact on local residents, fostering a sense of belonging and improving quality of life. Lowe's Foundation Hometowns program exemplifies this by awarding $10 million in grants to 100 nonprofits across the United States, as reported by Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s newsroom. These grants will fund diverse projects, from building tiny homes for veterans in South Dakota to creating a community garden in Detroit. By supporting initiatives that address specific local needs, Lowe's is not only improving physical spaces but also strengthening community bonds and providing essential services to vulnerable populations. This commitment to community development demonstrates the power of corporate social responsibility in creating lasting positive change. Between 1950 and 1980, around 500,000 trees were lost in Detroit to Dutch elm disease, urban expansion and attrition. During that same time, economic constraints prohibited the city from replacing those trees. Detroit is an urban area - that makes trees a vital part of city living. Trees are key to our quality of life, public health and provide enumerable environmental benefits. The Greening of Detroit was founded with a single focus in mind – restore the city's tree infrastructure. They are an organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for Detroiters by planting trees, providing job training and involving our youth in the education of the natural environment. They involve Detroiters in the process through community engagement, green spaces, education and jobs. How you can help? Join me in supporting The Greening of Detroit by donating a few dollars to help us create a sustainable future for our city. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. Every share of this post, makes a significant impact. Let’s come together this August to make Detroit a greener place for everyone! In Toronto, where skyscrapers meet community parks, real estate is more than just buying and selling properties. It's about building strong, supportive communities for everyone - especially our seniors and those navigating estate or power of sales. Giving back in real estate goes a long way in making our neighborhoods better. Here's how we can make a difference: 🏠 Support local charities: Part of each transaction can go to local organizations that help our seniors and communities in need. Even small donations can lead to big changes. 🏠 Volunteer your skills: Whether it's real estate expertise or just a helping hand, volunteering builds trust and connections. 🏠 Organize community events: Host workshops or meet-ups focused on real estate insights. Educating everyone strengthens the whole community. 🏠 Promote shared spaces: Encourage development of parks or community centers. These are essential for fostering neighborhood bonds. Real estate professionals, let's remember - it's not just about the transactions; it's about the humans and communities we support along the way. Curious to learn more Call Tom Pileggi today at 416-917-6566 and Start Packing! Your Home Sold Guaranteed Or We’ll Buy It!* *Seller & Pileggi Real Estate Team Must Agree on Price & Terms.
