Static Wicks✈️ Static wicks are thin, pointed rods typically installed on aircraft wings and tail surfaces. They help dissipate static electricity that builds up during flight due to friction with air particles or flying through clouds. By releasing the electrical charge safely into the atmosphere, static wicks prevent interference with communication and navigation systems. #aircraft #aircraftlovers #aviation #aviationlovers #aviationgeek #aviationdaily #aviationlearning #AviationEducation

What drives someone to fly in the most dangerous and challenging conditions on Earth? The MACH 1 Avalanche is a tribute to the courageous pilots who take on the incredible task of landing helicopters at 6000 meters in the icy, unforgiving terrain of the Siachen Glacier. Here, the air is thin, the cold is relentless, and every flight is a true test of bravery and skill. In 1978, a handful of pilots made history by landing Chetak helicopters in this treacherous environment, where survival is uncertain. But these pilots don’t just fly for glory—they risk their lives to save others, taking on immense dangers to bring help where it’s needed most. Their bravery isn’t just about mastering the skies; it’s about the selflessness that drives them to protect and rescue, even in the harshest conditions. The MACH 1 Avalanche is built to withstand extreme challenges, just like the pilots who inspire it. This watch stands as a reminder of the incredible courage and dedication it takes to navigate the skies in such demanding environments.

👏 Perfectly executed emergency landing! 🛬 Personally, when I was doing my PPL on Cessna 152 it helped me a great deal that I've had experience flying glider planes, especially when it came to practicing engine failures and emergency landings. Just the knowledge itself that the airplane can still fly without an engine is quite reassuring subconsciously, helping you to keep your cool and focus on key tasks. Flying glider planes also helps you to develop a 'sixth' sense, one that allows you to feel connected with the plane and what it wants to do, and it also gives you advanced depth perception, the ability to judge how much your plane can glide depending on your altitude and chosen speed. The combination of these skills come really handy later on in your flying career when managing emergency scenarios like this. Whilst I am not sure if this pilot was also a fellow glider before, they definitely had the right skills! 👏
A remarkable emergency landing by a Cessna T210M Turbo Centurion (VH-MYW) at Sydney Bankstown Airport, Australia this afternoon, with the malfunctioning aircraft skimming over homes and warehouse roofs after losing power. Unable to reach the main runway, pilot of the slow and low flying aircraft elected to force land on a nearby taxiway. The aircraft skidded on its belly for a short distance before coming to a halt adjacent to parked aircraft. Both occupants managed to exit the aircraft with no apparent injuries. 🎥9News Sydney #aircraft #safety

Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky wants to make a new kind of aircraft that can take off and land vertically, like a helicopter, but it'll be powered by electricity and have wings that can tilt. This new design is just the beginning of a series of even more advanced aircraft they're planning. The idea is to make aircraft that can fly faster and farther, with fewer parts that can break down, which will make them cheaper to maintain. They're working on a test version of this new aircraft, which will have a powerful electric motor and will help them figure out how well it can hover in the air. This test version will be pretty big and will have its own power generator. Sikorsky believes that this new type of aircraft could be the future of flying, especially for short trips where you need to get somewhere quickly. They've already been working on similar technology with another type of helicopter. Right now, they're still figuring out exactly when this new aircraft will be ready, but they're making progress and getting closer to making it a reality. #helicopter #flying #aircraft #technology #trips #progress

So, why is this Cessna 172 suspended from the ceiling of Harry Reid airport at Las Vegas? Well, for starters, it's Vegas! But more importantly, this aircraft and it's crew of two set an air endurance record (being airborne without landing) of 64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and change! This was back in 1958-59, and remains unbroken till date. If this tidbit of information was new and interesting, imagine what other stuff I may talk about on Thursday at the #identiverse conference, on the topic of "Unified IGA, PAM and AM Orchestration Based Approach for Maximizing IAM Adoption". Yes, it sounds like the title of a research paper, but it's a lot more exciting! See you there. https://lnkd.in/gpXpf7GJ PS: A good writeup about this Cessna 172 is at https://lnkd.in/gXwb3XW8

Consider an inverted spin. The big problem under these circumstances is disorientation. You are suddenly upside down and everything becomes the other way around. And when the human mind is thrown to a moment of crisis, some of us react as ice cool or go all the other way. Regardless, it takes time to orient yourself and you do not have the time. Therefore, prepare beforehand. Going through the motions of what would you do if this situation occurred. #learntofly #flighttraining #pilottraining #lifelonglearning #aviation4u #aviation #pilot #piloteyes #pilotstuff #flying #fly #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #topgun #CFI #flightinstructor #designatedpilotexaminer #studentpilot #studentsuccess #explore #artistryofflight #FlyORKA #NoFlightSchools

A safe outcome with no other suitable emergency landing options available.
