❓ What stories can help policymakers tackle climate change even as its impacts spiral? ❓ If you're a storyteller and motivated by this question, our new Climate Policy Creative Fellowship might be for you... Many of the climate stories we tell fit into a binary narrative of 'win' or 'lose' 'We have 12 years to save the world' 'It's too late' Sometimes these stories are motivating Story structures like this - 'This is what could happen but there is still time to stop it!' - have driven action. But what happens next? Climate impacts are hitting faster and harder than anticipated. 1.5C could be breached within 10 years. Climate tipping points could be triggered. Things will get worse. But that doesn't mean we lost. It just means the context we face is changing. As climate risks spiral, there will be more fear. We'll rightly focus on responding to constant disasters. There will probably be anger at decision-makers as the scale of the risks becomes clear. Extremist politics could win big. These forces could distract from climate action, making the underlying situation worse. A vicious cycle. But it doesn't have to be this way. In response, we will need stories that manage these forces and keep our focus on climate action. And we need to help a particular community with those stories: policymakers. The stories they listen to and that they tell will be crucial to navigating the worsening climate storm. Think of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some policymakers told motivating stories of care, compassion, and community. Others didn't do so well... As the climate crisis escalates, we'll need bold, motivating stories, so that the consequences of the crisis don't get in the way of tackling its causes. If you're interested in creating those stories and having an impact on policy, we've got something for you... *** Applications are open for a brand new Climate Policy Creative Fellowship *** This experimental Fellowship will support creative storytellers to develop skills, knowledge and practice to help policymakers make better decisions about climate change. Click here to find out more and to apply: https://lnkd.in/ejyFWHCc Or contact me direct. The fellowship is run by UCL Climate Action Unit and Fast Familiar and is part of the Strategic Climate Risks Initiative, a new think and do tank

A large majority of Thais believe that addressing climate change requires international cooperation, aligning with global sentiment. While specific data on Thai perceptions of the main contributors to global warming suggest potential emphasis on ozone-depleting products, deforestation, agriculture/land use, and transport emissions. Individual actions to combat climate change include reducing personal carbon footprints, supporting sustainable businesses, advocating for policy changes, educating others, and participating in community initiatives. #Climatechange #Sustainability #ipsos#thailand Discover our Annual Report on Attitudes and Actions Towards Climate Change here: https://lnkd.in/eZtNq4aK

Making Europe’s carbon prices more uniform within countries and, better yet, across countries, would help equalizing the burden of cutting greenhouse gas emissions. See our new Chart of the Week blog, which highlights our research showing that equalizing carbon prices across countries would spread the economic burden of emission reductions more evenly across households and alleviate the weight on poorer Europeans. https://lnkd.in/enGsvH4n

With winter and heating season approaching, pollution levels in the Western Balkans are set to rise. In response, the Clean Air Regions Initiative (CARI), supported by the European Climate Foundation, is deploying small-scale air monitoring devices across Western Balkan municipalities. These advanced sensors track harmful pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide, to provide real-time data on air quality. With these insights, local governments can take targeted actions to protect public health, especially during high-risk periods 🛑💡 As we continue to support efforts like CARI, collaboration remains essential. Municipalities can join the initiative, access best practices, and work toward practical solutions for healthier, cleaner air in the region 🌱 Read more about the initiative: 👉️https://lnkd.in/eYcSVV5B #CleanAir #WesternBalkans #CARI #ClimateAction Peter Vajda Brunilda Brati

🌎 ☁ Tackling Scope 3 Emissions. Scope 3 emissions can account for up to 80% of a company’s total carbon footprint, depending on the industry. This makes them critical to understanding the full extent of a company’s environmental impact. It doesn't matter what industry you are in. Whether you are a manufacturer, retailer, or service provider - Scope 3 is often where both the opportunities and challenges lie. 💡 What’s Involved? Scope 3 emissions are broken down into 15 distinct categories, ranging from the emissions associated with purchased goods and services, to business travel, employee commuting, and the end-of-life treatment of products. It's complex and requires careful measurement, management, and collaboration. 🚀 The Road Ahead Addressing Scope 3 emissions requires a shift in mindset—from focusing only on your direct operations to engaging with suppliers, partners, and customers to reduce their carbon footprints too. It’s not an easy task, but the rewards are significant: ✅ Improved Supply Chain Efficiency: Identifying inefficiencies or high-carbon processes can help reduce costs. ✅ Enhanced Brand Reputation: Companies that lead in Scope 3 reductions show they are committed to comprehensive climate action. ✅ Investor Confidence: Increasingly, investors are prioritising companies with strong sustainability practices across the entire value chain. To truly achieve sustainability goals, companies must prioritise Scope 3 emissions and work collaboratively with stakeholders to reduce them. It’s no longer just about reducing what’s within our control; it’s about transforming entire supply chain. Book a free consultation today to see how we can help you with understanding and accounting for your scope 3 emissions. https://lnkd.in/eZJdJkXS
