As the official kick off day of Web Summit Lisbon 2024 comes to a close, my brain is a bubbling cauldron of ideas and excitement! 🧙♀️ Out of fear of not wanting to forget these insights, I thought I’d write some day 1 highlights down so we can enjoy them together! Highlight #1: Jesse Hanse (he/him) was the first person I raced to LinkedIn to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed an intimate materclass about how Paula's Choice Skincare has used content to drive their mission. Educate first, product second. Using resources like ingredient encyclopedias and skincare quizzes to drive organic traffic and brand trust. These are insights I will never forget. 🧴 Highlight #2: Dan Gardner, Co-founder of Code and Theory cut straight to the point in “The internet sucks”. One quote that stood out to me: “Stop solving yesterday’s problems, start designing tomorrow’s opportunities.” Rethink the space you’re in and create more friction instead of fighting it. 🧠 Highlight #3: CMO-Over or CMO-On? A talk with Gabie Boko about the reality of the CMO role. I loved this talk! It explored how we as marketing teams can also assist in defining what results we want to drive. 🛞 Best quote of the day: “everyone thinks they’re an expert in marketing” Highlight #4: Hearing Josh Silverman talk about the passion behind handmade and curated items in e-commerce at Etsy, a platform I love and admire. 🛒🛍️ People will never lose their desire for connection with each other. I also met some really cool people and learnt about so many innovative ways companies are using AI. I’m still so excited to see what the next 2 days hold! I hope to share this content in greater detail after the summit so let me know what you’d like to hear more about! 📝 #websummit #marketingsummit
