The misinformation / misrepresentation by educated professionals. 🧠Data matters. But a simple thing as India's growth potential and demographic distribution is so misinterpreted ...sample this video. 🔥 The person is correct that India's median population is 28 currently ..BUT India's population is aging rapidly, with the elderly population (aged 60 and above) expected to double from 10.5% in 2022 to 20.8% by 2050. This means that by 2050, one in every five people in India will be elderly, and the country will have 340 million seniors, making up about 17% of the world's elderly population. 🔥 Yes India has a decent number of people in the working age BUT But not all people in the working age group are in the labour force, which comprises employed individuals and those willing to work but not employed (i.e., unemployed). For that we must look at the labour force participation rate, or LFPR. India’s LFPRs are not only much below the global average, but significantly lower than China’s. As of 2021 (the latest year for which comparable data is available), 75.8 percent of China’s working age population (15-64) was part of its labour force i.e. they were either employed, or looking for work, data from the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) modelled estimates show. In India, on the other hand, only 51.3 percent of those in this age group were part of the labour force in the same year. 🔥 India highest young population in 50 years....how ?? number...but if we have the highest population we will have the highest youngest population. by that logic uncontrolled population growth should be good 🤔😅 🧠it's more about density of Labour force vs number ( I don't know how anyone can even say the above...) A large part of SE Asia, most of Africa , I believe some countries in eastern Europe (need to check this ) will have better numbers. 💫🗞️Why does this matter ? You can't build a business or solve country's problems or teach business without understanding reality & these conversations just cherry pick a version of reality . i purposely didn't go into the rising unemployment rate ,the skill gap, growing inflation because those become political in nature...but these 3 above are irrespective of facts ....facts are being conveniently forgotten today. I don't blame journalists ( Sonia Shenoy ) because they are dictated by agendas outside their control but at least present other perspectives- comprehensive perspectives which tell the entire story #business #strategy #tam
You've got some great points to be placed with subject matter experts. All media today is controlled by vested businesses and politics. So it's anyways a few dead rats under the red carpet.
Organised Misinformation propaganda misleading people at its best. Pseudo intellectuals having access to media and selling dreams like Bollywood movies.

7moI am not sure we have any demographic advantage if majority of the workforce is engaged in unproductive work. Mihir Sharma wrote in a column for the Business Standard that India needs structural transformation to improve the productivity and wages of the working population. Citing two reports, he broadly says: 1. The share of employment in agriculture experienced a significant reversal, rising from 42.4% to 46.4% (2019-2022); It is not clear how much can be attributed to the pandemic. Typically, the share of employment in agriculture should go down as the excess labour is absorbed in manufacturing and services sectors. 2. Between 2012 and 2022, the monthly real earnings of salaried workers and of the self employed actually declined Essentially, even if we have the youngest population, most of the workforce is engaged in unproductive work, and their consumption power is very limited. https://www.business-standard.com/opinion/columns/lower-middle-income-trap-124042100679_1.html
