𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐘𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠?  Yield farming is one of the most significant sectors in decentralized finance (DeFi). In 2023, $8 Billion was yield farmed. While yield farming offers many exciting opportunities for crypto enthusiasts and investors, what exactly is yield farming? Yield farming is an investment strategy that involves depositing crypto assets in a liquidity pool or DeFi platforms in hopes of a higher return. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲? The concept of “yield farming” was born in 2020 when the Ethereum-based DeFi protocol, Compound, started offering COMP. COMP is an ERC-20 token that allows the “compound” community to participate in the governance process of the compound protocol. By participating in the governance process, users and holders of the COMP token could vote on and participate in the protocol's decision-making process. This made the crypto community very interested in the COMP token, subsequently leading to the birth of yield farming. However, the hype around yield farming significantly declined after the collapse of the TerraUSD stablecoin in 2022. This collapse exposed the fragility of DeFi, making investors pull back and play safe. Nevertheless, yield farming is still a profitable sector in DeFi. How can users participate and benefit from yield farming? Users can serve as: 𝐋𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: Users can provide liquidity by depositing cryptocurrency tokens to decentralized exchanges (DEX). The liquidity they provide helps traders who use the DEX buy and sell cryptocurrencies seamlessly. In return, the liquidity provider receives a fair share of the fee placed on trading activities happening in the DEX or, sometimes, is given liquidity pool tokens that they can reinvest. 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: Just like with traditional financial systems, users can lend cryptocurrencies to borrowers of a DeFi platform, such as Compound or Aave, upon which they receive interest when the loan is paid back. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬: Users can stake or lock their cryptocurrencies for some time, upon which they earn yield in return. 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬: Unlike depositing cryptocurrencies, users can borrow a token in a cryptocurrency pair and use the other token in the pair as collateral. Polychain leads $6.7M investment in new Bitcoin-centric yield network Corn Corn aims to unlock more of Bitcoin’s $1.1 trillion liquidity for DeFi applications. Polychain Capital has announced a $6.7 million investment into a new Bitcoin-centric yield-generating network. The $6.7 million investment was received by Corn, a new Ethereum layer-2 (L2) network that uses a tokenized version of Bitcoin BTC tickers down $58,836 for gas fees and economic incentives on the network, tickered BTCN. Corn launched on Aug. 19 with the goal of enhancing the utility of the world’s first cryptocurrency and introducing new yield-generating opportunities, according to Chris Spadafora, the founder of Corn and BadgerDAO. He told Cointelegraph: “By aligning network participants through the power of Super Yield Farming, ensuring foundational token utility, and putting Bitcoin in the driver seat, Corn is definitely not just another vanilla chain launch.” The 2024 bull cycle saw an array of new yield-generating opportunities launching for crypto investors. ApeCoin (APE) has returned to the top 100 cryptocurrencies after rising 66% ApeCoin (APE), the native token of the APE ecosystem, has added 66% in value over the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, the cryptocurrency's exchange rate has surpassed $1 and may continue to rise. The launch of ApeChain has drawn attention to ApeCoin One of the reasons for the sharp rise in the APE price was the launch of the Layer-3 ApeChain network developed by ApeCoin DAO called Arbitrum Orbital Chain. As a result, the token is back in the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. The project team said on Twitter that bridges are already active and users can access the blockchain. “Bridges are active. APE price prediction: a possible rise to $2 From a technical point of view, ApeCoin has come out of a downtrend that has lasted since June. All this time, the price of the altcoin fluctuated between $0.55 and $0.85. Now, the Moving Average Convergence and Divergence (MACD) indicator is showing significantly positive values, which has not been the case for almost a month. MACD measures momentum, where negative values indicate bearish momentum and positive values indicate bullish momentum. If investors remain interested in APE, its price could reach $1.47 and even rise to $2. However, if APE holders who did not sell the token during the long slump decide to lock in profits, the altcoin will face a correction to $0.86.
