To create something surprising you have to make it feel familiar. For many years, a lot of work from YATM was encouraging people to step into the unfamiliar. People stayed away. Three examples to share with you. 😕 When we started our YATM Lunch Club in Bristol in 2019/2020, it was challenging. People were not familiar with it, and convincing people to embrace a new idea, self-sufficiency, instead of common business practices like marketing, SEO, and social media, was difficult. 😕 In 2022, we introduced a new concept called YATM Creator Day, with a focus on fostering interaction among attendees. However, in 2022 we emphasised this aspect too much and neglected to effectively position it within the framework of a conference. Our first event had 80 attendees, while in 2024, the number of people who attended grew to over 200. 😕 In 2021, we introduced hybrid events. At the time, many people were hesitant to attend in-person events due to ongoing uncertainties or because they had become accustomed to the convenience of virtual attendance. Therefore, hosting a work event in a theatre was an unfamiliar experience. Here's a pic to what we did to mix online and offline. ANSWER | Find ways to blend the comfort of the known with the introduction of the new. To make something new appealing, it should have a touch of familiarity, and vice versa.

Around £17k Is what my summit - Elevate Live Online - has created in revenue so far. Costs are around £3k. (I’ll work out and share more accurate numbers this week). Obviously that doesn’t include my own time. That’s a £14k ROI without this coming week’s campaign to promote my event only offers to my group of brilliant ticket holders. Not bad for an event that actually wasn’t about generating revenue and was more about creating a phenomenal experience where my clients inside Elevate Collective could boost their authority even more by speaking. Also not bad for a teeny list compared to others who run events (we pruned to 3500 recently, focusing on active members only). I’ve also not included how many I’ve added to that list - I’ll take a look at that this week. I was committed to bringing a range of speakers you don’t see often on the general circuit as I’ve noticed many of the same speakers showing up at our online business events, which doesn’t invite new perspectives and critical thinking. I was committed to bringing years and years of experience, from true GOATS in our industry. I was committed to not putting on a yawn inducing zoomfest, but instead an interactive online event that ‘felt’ like an in person event. Minus actual hugs, I think we managed that. And then some. In my world we only do first class experiences that leave a lasting impression. In a world full of shortcuts and hacks, this is a rareity. I bring this to everything I do, including my offers. (Wait til you see what I create next and the reason why this is my last event for a while so I can focus.) And now you get the chance to steal it! I want to pass on the summit baton to those who are committed to creating first class events by giving you EVERYTHING we did. Introducing… SHORTCUT YOUR SUMMIT SUCCESS Inside you get: The processes The campaign The design The speaker approach The sponsor packages The ticket strategy The tech stack The offers to sell during/after The event page template The event brochure template The copy The creative The full SOP E V E R Y T H I N G How will this be delivered? A bundle with it all in and a live masterclass on the 15th November so you can ask questions. The recording of the masterclass to use again as again if you can’t join us live. Added to an online training hub where all the assets will sit, with instructions for each. If you’re running any kind of online events next year, summits or otherwise, this will be the upgrade and shortcut you need to create profitable, high-quality events that boost your authority and audience. And right now you can get it on pre-sale for only £97 ex vat. It will go up to £250 soon. Although you’re getting up to the minute training and templates from my event this month. This is my third online summit. I’ve also run 3 sold out in person events and many other events, tradeshow exhibitions and campaign experiences over the years. Go sign up: lhouse.uk/syss

You know the client… The one who doesn’t like change, or if they do, it has to be their idea. And yet, they want different results and you have ideas. So what do you do? About a decade ago I learned a technique called “‘what if’ with me….” The idea is to get your client out of the right/wrong mindset, and into one of curiosity. ✅ What if… we decide not to have a digital venue? ✅ What if… we got rid of all of the demographic information in registration? ✅ What if… we don’t require login to view the live event? ✅ What if… we pushed out speaker reg for a week to nail down the integration? If you compare that to: ❌ I think we should...get rid of the digital venue. ❌ We’re going to…get rid of the demographic information in registration ❌ We won’t…require login to view the live events ❌ We need to push out speaker reg for a week to nail down the integration The second set of statements are just that. Statements. And if your client is one who likes to be right, they are going to be a lot harder to take than what is effectively the same thing phrased as a question. The “what if” version lets them work through it at their own pace, and if your logic is sound, they will come to the same decision. At a minimum, it will likely bring to light other consideration points that lets you collectively come to the best decision for the team. How do you change up your #conference #Eventplanners? By stop pushing content and start staging a #Community building #Experience that transforms attendees into contributors and adds greater value to the overall event. #eventsprof #eventprofs #Meetingplanner #meetingplanners #DrawThemIn
Hello #Eventplanners, my company, Wonder Mint, has developed a highly-engaging and co-creation attendee experience to help attendees at your event to feel more valued and involved rather than thinking they are just a consumer of another conference, trade show, or convention by staging a visual collaboration with them and producing an artifact that is both unique to your event and memorable. Okay, that's the sales pitch. Here's the reality. Too many events are still following an overload of push content to appear to add value. The reality is that too much content creates more stress and weaker session attendance. People don't want more options, they want richer connection to your event and to other attendees. It's time to shift from pushing out content to pulling in involvement. Its time to make your attendees contributors to your event to create greater value and connection that they are seeking. Wonder Mint can help you engage, collaborate, and capture your attendees ideas, insights, and conversations during your event. Wonder Mint focuses on your attendees being the main contributors to a visual #Community Board or Wall. By collecting their thoughts and visualizing them as a visual community, they create and share what's important to them. After its complete, a wonderful artifact of the event is there for sharing on #SocialMedia, #Marketing, and review by the planning team to identify over-looked opportunities to better engage attendees at the next event. Having attendees as contributors has greater value for all. Time is too short. Time to stop following the same formula as other conferences and start pulling and #engaging your attendees as contributors and stage an experiences your attendees won't forget. Let's chat, Today. P.S. Please follow and share. Thanks. #Eventplanner #conferenceplanner #Exhibit #TradeShow #marketingmanager #eventmarketing #engagement #Experience #VisualTranslation #CommunityBoard #Memorabilia #ExperientialMarketing

Why Training is the Best Option: Choosing the right investment for your trade show presence can be a balancing act. Both team training and a screen with compelling content cost the same, but their impacts differ. Let's tip the scales in favor of the best option: team training. Team Training for the Stand Crew: Engagement: Trained staff engage visitors effectively, answer questions confidently, and create memorable experiences. Personal Connection: Well-prepared teams build genuine connections, fostering trust and interest in your products or services. Adaptability: A knowledgeable team tailors their approach to each visitor's unique needs and interests. Long-term Benefits: Training enhances team skills, benefiting future interactions and events. Screen with Content: Visual Appeal: High-quality content attracts attention and conveys key messages quickly. Consistency: A screen ensures every visitor sees the same polished presentation. Automation: Allows team members to focus on high-value interactions. Information Delivery: Ideal for conveying complex information through engaging visuals and videos. Why Training is the Best Option: Personal connections and meaningful engagements are what turn visitors into customers. Trained staff adapt to each situation, answer specific questions, and build relationships that a screen simply cannot. The long-term benefits of investing in your team extend beyond a single event, making it a wise investment for sustained success. In the end, the best option for maximizing your trade show impact is clear: invest in your team. Empower them with the skills and knowledge to create lasting impressions and drive real results. #TradeShow #EventMarketing #TeamTraining #BusinessStrategy #CustomerEngagement Pieter-Paul VisserGovert-Henk MijndersRuud Van UdenFrank KantersIFES - Sharing KnowledgeEDPA - Experiential Designers & Producers AssociationCLC-VECTA Centrum voor Live CommunicationExpovisieExhibitor GroupThe Exhibitor AdvocateThe Exhibition Guy - Stephan Murtagh 👔Lee AliEuropean Exhibition Industry AllianceUFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition IndustryMatthieu Bout Steve Riches Martijn Besaris Angélique Monballieu🔶
