How do you manage resources on your project? Make sure you know about Resource Smoothing and Resource Levelling for your PMP exam - these methods are useful, but will often delay tasks. Make sure you have enough total "float" or wiggle room in your project schedule to absorb the delay.

When I started studying for the PMP exam way back in 2012, I was solely focused on its professional benefits. However, the most profound impact turned out to be on my personal life. Concepts from the PMBOK Guide, like planning, risk analysis, and control, brought clarity and maturity to my daily routines, especially in financial management and organization. Looking back, I see how much I underestimated this knowledge and how stubborn I was at the time. If this learning helped me grow personally, its professional impact was inevitable. And the truth is, it doesn’t matter if you’re applying it to personal or professional life—the principles of good planning, organization, and risk management are universally valuable. I’m not here to promote the PMI—honestly, I often complain about the renewal fees, especially when earning in a currency far from the euro or dollar. But I can share this: while the future is in God’s hands, planning, organizing, and controlling the present can mitigate risks and uncover opportunities.Challenges will always be part of life, but knowledge makes them lighter and may even lead us to unexpected opportunities. What lessons will the next 10 years bring? Only time will tell. Yet, one thing is certain: thoughtful planning always increases our chances of success, whether in personal or professional life. #PMI #PMP

Passed my PMP exam!

I have recently finalized the renewal of my PfMP certificate. My PMI’s certification journey includes earning the PMP on 2006, PgMP on 2010, PfMP on 2014, while expanding into agile with the PMI-ACP 2012.Some people often ask if pursuing these certifications has paid off and if it was worth the effort, especially since while the PMP has earned industry-wide recognition, the number of PgMP, PMI-ACP and PfMP holders is still relatively low and known primarily among specialists. My answer is yes. These certifications demonstrate extensive experience, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to handle challenges at different levels.Benefits include: • Standing out: they help you stand out in a crowded market, making you a more attractive candidate for principal gigs and contracts. • Better negotiation: combined with an interesting list of assignments in your CV, they allow you to negotiate better rates and secure more interesting assignments. • Capability demonstration: most importantly, they prove your capability to handle challenges at different levels, which is crucial, especially in times of economic downturn when hiring more senior roles can limit risk exposure of critical initiatives. In conclusion, pursuing these certifications has been a good move, and I plan to continue renewing all four certificates.
