Useful Tips💡 👏🏾Changing hygiene behaviours requires innovative and novel approaches in the right context; otherwise it can be a difficult and complex undertaking. ⁉️Promotion programmes often focus on educating people about health, germs and disease using leaflets, posters and messaging only. 💡WaterAid understand however, such approaches rarely result in positive, sustained behaviour change as they fail to account for the fundamental role of broader structural determinants, such as cultural or social norms, environmental constraints such as access to facilities and products, and emotional aspects such as increasing status, ensuring comfort, nurturing future benefits etc. ✍🏾There is mounting evidence to show that research-based HBC interventions using emotional triggers such as nurture, status, disgust, affiliation and change in environments (change in physical settings with cues / nudges) are much more successful in improving behaviours as compared to traditional interventions focusing on raising awareness. Click the following link to watch the HBC interventions that took those aspects into account. Please keep watching to see the results.☺️ https://lnkd.in/eGtqE2hJ

VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENTATION PLUS DEWORMING Kenya’s integrated VAS+D approach to programming is expected to significantly improve the nutritional and health status of children aged 6-59 months by enhancing their immune systems, leading to reduced morbidity and mortality from preventable illnesses. Moreover, the elimination of Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) has been proven to be an effective intervention that builds on the established Primary Healthcare Networks (PCNs) to address malnutrition and impaired growth, which are both manifestations of malabsorption, reduced appetite, reduced food uptake, and inflammations caused by parasitic worm infestations. The ongoing effort to refine the competencies, responsiveness, and productivity of healthcare providers at both national and county levels through structured training, coaching, and mentorship initiatives, remains an absolute imperative for strengthening the health workforce pillar and improving the delivery of quality healthcare services. Given this background, the Integrated VAS+D Training Package is emerging as a pivotal approach for strengthening the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers, which leads to efficiencies in the management and utilization of product. It’s been an honour to be the SBC lead in the development of the VAS+D Facilitators’ and Participants’ Training Manuals that will be used to train healthcare workers in this thematic area. A big hand to all the partners involved in the process.
