Excited to have shared my knowledge on Anti microbial Resistance(AMR) Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) refers to the ability of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, to resist the effects of antimicrobial drugs, including antibiotics, antivirals, and antifungals. This means that these microorganisms can survive and continue to grow even in the presence of these drugs, making them less effective in treating infections. AMR is a growing global concern, as it can lead to: - Increased mortality and morbidity - Prolonged illnesses - Higher healthcare costs - Limitations in medical procedures and treatments Factors contributing to AMR include: - Overuse and misuse of antimicrobial drugs - Poor infection control practices - Lack of effective waste management and sanitation - Agricultural use of antimicrobial drugs To combat AMR, it's essential to: - Use antimicrobial drugs judiciously and only when necessary - Develop new antimicrobial drugs and therapies - Improve infection control and prevention practices - Enhance global surveillance and monitoring - Promote public awareness and education. #SDG12 #SDG3.3 #Sustainability #GlobalHealthSecurity #GlobalGoals #AntimicrobialResistance #FightAMR #AntibioticResistance #WorldHealthOrganization #WHO #GlobalHealth #HealthForAll

This week is the International AMR Awareness Week #WAAW, which draws attention to the global problems of antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic resistance. Listen to Swedish Minister for Health and Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed speak more about this topic in the video. - Sweden is, and will continue to be, deeply committed to countering the development and spread of antibiotic resistance and its consequences. Only through purposeful joint efforts, across sectors and borders, do we have a chance of ensuring effective treatment of infections for all – humans and animals – now and in the future, says Jakob Forssmed.
