As a Founder or startup manager, you're stunting your startup's growth. It's all to do with playing favourites. Think it doesn't apply to you because you're a balanced and fair manager.. well... ⚖ 75% of employees say favouritism occurs in their work place.. 😊 It's human nature to gravitate towards those more like you 💪🏽 Even top managers subconsciously favour 😇 For the "in group" you're giving more attention, feedback, praise & development tasks so they grow quicker 😥 Those in the "outgroup" feel undervalued, under-appreciated & demotivated, so they don't progress as quickly 👎🏽 This undermines your team’s potential and hinders your startup's growth So are you treating all of your startup team equally? ====================================================== Love a podcast, the above comes this episode of HBR podcast....

I recently start to listen this podcast. And i LOVE it. So, for each episode, I'm going to share my highlights with you. LECTURE 1 : How to Start a Startup with Sam Altman & Dustin Moskovitz ➡ Simplicity wins! A straightforward, user-friendly product can often outperform a complex one (Google’s initial two-button interface) ➡ Keep a close eye on your performance metrics to understand where you stand and where to focus your growth efforts ➡ It's not about commanding power; it's about understanding and responding to the needs of those around you ➡ You NEED feedback Sam Altman’s Advice: “Manually get users and remember that the goal is to get a small group of them to like you. Understand that group extremely well, get very close to them, listen to them, and you’ll find they’re often willing to give you valuable feedback.” I find these insights incredibly useful, not just to startups. But also to anyone looking to make an impact within their organization.

It may be the most critical element in building startups. Deciding over success and failure. Yet, many don't get it. Execution. In Lex’ latest podcast episode, Mark Cuban was just spot on: “Do you have to be ambitious and set aside reality to some extent to believe in building a multi-million, even a billion-dollar company? To some level, yes. Because you don’t know. It’s all uncertainty. But if you’re an illusionist that works against you. Because everything is grounded in reality. You have to execute. You have to produce. While you have to have a mission, a vision, you still need to execute. That is where most people fail.“ — Many put so much emphasis on their idea that they "forget" that execution decides who wins the game. The idea qualifies you to play, the execution decides where you are in 6, 12, 48 months. Are you still at 0? Or are you closer to 1? Building your dreams is about building, not just dreaming. Get your s together and go. Love, F 🫶

There are thousands of books, podcasts, and videos on entrepreneurship. Hot take? Most of them are useless. There are 2 business podcasts I never miss an episode of, though—This Week In Startups and My First Million. This Week In Startups is a left-brain exercise. In it, Jason Calacanis covers topics in startups, tech, and finance while also interviewing some of the most successful founders, operators, and investors. This podcast focuses on tactics and actionable advice for anyone building a company of their own. My First Million, on the other hand, takes a totally different approach. This podcast is what happens when you take two intelligent business minds and let them run wild. Sam Parr and Shaan Puri spend countless hours discussing unique business tactics and interesting startup ideas. This podcast is how you get the creative juices going when thinking about your own business. What’s one podcast (or newsletter, book, etc.) that’s in your rotation? Any that you never miss? Let me know in the comments 🤝
