Someone is always doing better than you in their career. Here’s how to handle it: 1. Stop obsessing over other people’s LinkedIn posts: Seriously, save that energy for improving your skills. 2. Celebrate what’s going well in your life: Maybe your career isn’t skyrocketing, but hey, your child is open to you—that’s a win! 3. Accept that everyone’s on a different path: Some are climbing the corporate ladder, others are building businesses from the ground up. Both are valuable. 4. Be patient: Great careers (and good coffee) take time. Relax and trust your process! What’s one thing you’re proud of right now? Share your wins, big or small!

This short video lays out several lenses for thinking through your career transitions, 5 aspects that she says makes up your "personal capital": financial, reputational, intellectual, relational, and joy. She makes the point not to over-index on the first two, which we are taught to think about early on in our careers, and to realize that adding the other three can lead to more wisdom in these transition decisions, to greater values alignment, more enjoyment, and more likelihood that the transition will land you in a place of your unique strengths and contributions.
