New map released by Dept. of Energy shows where investments are flowing so communities can be alert to opportunities for community benefits plans and agreements. "This Community Benefits Map for Demonstration and Deployment Projects is a tool that local communities can use to better understand what DOE-supported projects are being developed in their areas. This will allow local community members and other leaders to engage more effectively with the project, ultimately creating stronger and more specific benefits and building long-term project support." https://lnkd.in/eHPd7353

As we build the infrastructure we’ll need for the energy transition – how can we ensure meaningful engagement with benefits for local communities? CATF’s tool compiles a select list of resources on community benefits in the U.S. While community benefits programs have the potential to create win-win scenarios for all stakeholders, they do not guarantee community support and should be meaningfully created and effectively implemented. With the federal government and several non-governmental entities publishing information and guidance on types of community benefits and project agreements, CATF has compiled a select list of resources on community benefits that can help bring clarity and context to this nuanced conversation. https://lnkd.in/eJPviGFG

There is an opportunity to run an amazing and impactful project 🚀 🌎 - first ever pan-European IMPACT report for European Community Land Trust Network 📚 Please share with your network (or like 👍)! We search for the best party that can help us assess and beautifully demonstrate the positive impact of CLTs Why is it so interesting? The planet is on fire and we feel it, social inequalities are on the rise, and problems with access to decent, affordable housing are present in every major city in Europe. And there are plenty of solutions - alternative and proven systems design that can help us navigate towards a just transition for future sustainable living environments. CLT model is one of these beautiful alternatives, and this IMPACT report will be a chance to show it to the world! Community Land Trust is a model for housing, that enables social, economic, and environmental outcomes, far better than market-driven housing development models. We have plenty of examples and stories of communities realizing affordable housing made with bio-based materials, pioneering the implementation of sustainable technologies, and creating quality living for all. The time has come to put both numbers and stories together 🤹🏼♀️ 🎨 Can you recommend anyone? Ernestien Idenburg Geert Pelsma Gerard Roemers Janina Nieper Rémi S. Developing local infrastructure outcomes that focus on helping local communities is insightful. Developing local infrastructure outcomes that also dance to the tune of funders and public sector bodies can be troublesome, but it shouldn't be. Is it a case of not thinking too much or do we need to hammer this out once and for all? #localinfrastruturematters #localcommunities

The opening of the 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program Grants marks another opportunity to embrace regional opportunities for a community-driven energy future. As we confront the dual challenges of climate change and energy security, this initiative provides a crucial opportunity for regional leaders to rethink how we generate, store, and use energy. But the impact of the energy transition can and should go beyond just the construction of infrastructure—it can represent a shift in how we empower local communities. By strategically aligning these projects with broader regional development goals, we can unlock multiple layers of value: enhancing energy resilience for our communities, fostering economic growth, and supporting social equity. Having advised regional councils and water corporations on complex infrastructure projects, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative potential of well-planned energy/water initiatives. The key lies in a holistic approach—one that integrates robust governance, community/stakeholder engagement, and a long-term vision for sustainable/shared outcomes. I invite regional leaders to think boldly and strategically about how to leverage these grants for maximum impact. Together, we can pave the way for a resilient, prosperous future. #ThoughtLeadership #EnergyTransition #RegionalResilience #StrategicPlanning #Sustainability

Stantec's recommendations on how national and local policy can better support the later living sector make for an interesting read, setting out some practical steps to improve provision - the need for which will only grow as the population ages. The Development Economics team regularly reports on local older persons' housing needs, and some of our national figures are included here. Most strikingly, there are currently just 1.3 specialist homes for every ten older households, so the overwhelming majority do not have this option. https://lnkd.in/eJUhf_7s
