Let's now tackle a surprising tactic that can elevate your Google Ads performance—negative keywords. Yes, you heard that right—using negative words can actually give your campaigns a serious boost. Think of it this way. These words are your way of streamlining your advertising efforts. Instead of wasting your budget on clicks from users who aren’t interested in your offering, you’re directing your spending toward those who are. This targeted approach can enhance your ad relevance, which can positively impact your quality score. For instance, if you’re running a campaign for premium leather shoes, adding negative keywords like "cheap" or "discount" helps you avoid attracting bargain hunters who aren’t your target market. This means your budget goes further, reaching those who are ready to invest in quality. Next time you’re setting up Google Ad campaigns, don’t overlook the power of negative keywords. They might seem like a small detail, but they can make a huge difference in driving the right kind of traffic to your site. 💡 Did you know? - If you're running Google Search Ads there might be occasions when you can't actually see your own ads when searching for relevant keyphrases that should trigger your ads. There are 5 primary reasons why this might be the case, namely:- 1. You're daily budget has already been used - If you're daily budget has been used then your ads for a particular campaign will have deactivated for today and will reactivate tomorrow. 2. You're not your target audience - If your Google ads account is structured and targeted in a certain way then in turn you may not match your campaign's targeted audience, and therefore may never see your ads. 3. Serving ads 100% of the time does not drive positive return on investment - The cost to serve your ad every time someone searches target key phrases can be well beyond reasonable budgets. You want your ads to appear at the right time to the right user – not all the time. 4. Repeated Searches reduce the chance you'll see your ad - When you search repeatedly and don’t click on an ad, Google can stop showing it to you because it things it's not of interest to you because you haven't clicked on the advert or spent long enough reading it. 5. You're machine or work IP range may have been blocked - If you're searching from the same machine IP or work IP your account manager may have picked this up using software or server logs and blocked your IP address. In summary, if Google allowed you to see your ads and you were checking all the time, this could actually hurt your campaign performance and Ad score! You want Google to target only those people with high purchase/enquiry intent and it really doesn't matter if you aren't served your own ads. .... (Bonus Advice 🙌😎) What should you do to see your ads then? .... ... Using Google’s Ad Preview tool you can preview how and where your ad shows from anywhere in the UK and beyond in real-time. This way you can see how your ad appears to searchers without impacting search performance. Review data from your account on impressions, clicks, conversions to better understand the performance of your campaigns. . #adwords #googleads #googleadwords #paidsearch #searchmarketing #advertising #adverts #visibility #digitalmarketing
