Hi, after 3 months, I am pleased to share with you my Certificate provided by SciencesPo - Paris, based on International Migration: Global Issue. This course helped me improve my knowledge about global immigration around the world and the relationship between immigration and development, focusing on the benefits for the countries of departure, refugees, and the countries of entrance. Secondly, it was an opportunity to explore the contradiction between globalization and the restriction of people’s mobility (Earth sovereignty). It was a real opportunity for me to learn that immigration varies depending on national and regional contexts, as well as political, economic, and geostrategic issues. Additionally, all asylum seekers don't have the same rights, even if they may have the same reasons for leaving their countries, based on the Geneva Convention relative to refugees. Today, we're discussing another way to address the main topic of globalization: the << Global Forum on Migration and Development>>. I'll be excited to have the opportunity to attend the next Forum to share my ideas and propose solutions in three parts (WINNING-Winning-winning) for North Countries, South Countries, and refugees or people on the move. To finish, I would like to share this viewpoint: < The earth is a sphere, and we are condemned to live together, having nowhere else to go. Hospitality must therefore be the first rule of ethical conduct for humanity>. Let's embrace differentiation as part of our cultures and civilizations… Sciences Po ,OIM - ONU Migration -UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR Canada

MIGRATION SYMPOSIUM The University of New York Tirana (UNYT) continues to debate and bring attention to critical social issues. In this respect, UNYT, with the support of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, organises a symposium titled “Migration: Challenges & Opportunities in the Balkan Region” to be held on April 18-19, 2024, on the university's East Campus. A symposium brings together a diverse group of people involved in migration issues - academics, policymakers, and NGOs. This allows for sharing research, best practices, and different perspectives on migration in the Balkan region and beyond. Migration can be a complex issue with both challenges and opportunities. This symposium can be a platform to discuss these issues openly. This could involve topics like the integration of migrants, refugee resettlement, brain drain, brain gain, economic impacts of migration, and ethical considerations. Our symposium is not just a discussion forum but a catalyst for action. By fostering informed debate, it can actively contribute to shaping policy and developing practical solutions for managing migration more effectively in the Balkan region. This could involve immigration laws, refugee protection measures, programs to support integration, and international cooperation on migration issues. Our symposium recognises migration is a topic often clouded by misunderstanding and misinformation. It is committed to providing a valuable space to educate the public about the realities of migration and its impact on societies, thereby fostering a more informed and empathetic public discourse. https://lnkd.in/dUKJ6k36 #turkishmaariffoundation #migration #trtworld #anadoluagency #unhcr

Social services for migrants are often provided by local organisations and “street-level bureaucrats”. Yet as new research from Katerina Glyniadaki shows, when the actors providing these services also have a migration background, they are forced to navigate a double – and at times conflicting – set of pressures and expectations. As global migration flows are increasing, the phenomenon of migrants who are also migration policy implementers is here to stay. Acknowledging the diversity of such actors is a significant step towards developing a greater understanding of migration policy implementation. https://lnkd.in/e96x3pay

This was one of the best panels I listened at Folkemødet .Which was focused on migration and Refugees.Which addressed on the complexities of migration, on a crucial standpoint by taking a stance to recognize the danger of a single story,. Migrants are often labeled as mere economic migrants or refugees without considering the multifaceted nature of their journeys. However, migration is not a problem, but a fundamental human instinct and desire for a better life and better opportunities. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's TED Talk, "The Danger of a Single Story," highlights the importance of sharing diverse narratives. By focusing solely on the negative aspects of migration, we risk creating stereotypes and distorting realities. It's essential to acknowledge the various motivations and experiences of migrants, including those who make something out of their new lives. Let's strive to create a more inclusive narrative that recognizes the agency and resilience of migrants. By doing so, we can foster empathy, understanding, and a more compassionate society. #MigrationIsAHumanInstinct #TheDangerOfASingleStory #InclusiveNarrativesMatter TARIBA TRAORE
