🖥️🇪🇺 **First Meeting of the European Digital Services Council** Commissioner Thierry Breton opened the first meeting of the European Digital Services Council on February 19. Here are the key points discussed: 📑 **Agenda**: - Discussion on the draft internal regulation. - Review of the draft electoral guidelines of the Digital Services Act (DSA), open for public consultation. 💬 **Discussions and Coordination**: - Digital Services Coordinators (DSC) and the Commission exchanged views on the overall implementation of the DSA. - Emphasis on cooperation for future activities of the Council. 🛡️ **Implementation of the DSA**: - Full entry into force of the DSA on February 17. - Now applies to all online intermediaries in the EU. - Obligation for Member States to appoint and empower digital services coordinators. 🤝 **Advisory Group**: - Formation of an advisory group to ensure consistent implementation of the DSA across the EU. - Consulted on the application of the DSA. 📅 **Next Meeting**: - The next Council meeting will take place on March 15. 🌐 #DigitalServices #DSA #EuropeanCouncil #Digital #Coordination #Regulation

What’s next for the Global Digital Compact? Pathways to civil society engagement in the implementation and follow-up    The #GlobalDigitalCompact (GDC), adopted during the Summit of the Future, emphasizes the importance of taking a multistakeholder approach to Internet Governance and includes a commitment to strengthen and leverage multistakeholder cooperation to achieve the objectives set out in the GDC. This event on October 31 aims to explore what effective multistakeholder cooperation should look like in practice when implementing and reviewing the GDC. On 4 July, the German Bundestag elected the members of the Digital Services Coordinator (DSC) Advisory Board. This step was taken following the entry into force of the German Digital Services Act (DDG) as the national transposition of the European Digital Services Act (DSA). Alexander Rabe, Managing Director of the eco Association, was elected to the Advisory Board with a cross-party majority as one of four representatives from industry associations. “The Digital Services Act will shape the framework conditions for the provision of digital services throughout the Internet industry. Standardised rules for the digital Single Market, as well as fair and reasonable liability rules, are therefore of essential importance to our member companies.
