The olympics will transforming transportation infrastructure.. Queensland 2032 will significantly enhance the region's transport network, focusing on connectivity, accessibility, and sustainability. Major projects include: Cross River Rail: This 10.2 km rail line will add four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street, and Roma Street, improving connectivity across Brisbane by providing faster, more frequent services and easing congestion in the central business district. Brisbane Metro: A high-frequency, high-capacity public transport system that will connect key inner-city locations, including major hospitals, universities, and entertainment precincts. Gold Coast Light Rail Extension: Extending the light rail network to connect Gold Coast communities and tourist destinations, enhancing regional connectivity. Sunshine Coast Rail Upgrade: Improving rail services to the Sunshine Coast, reducing travel times and increasing the frequency of trains to Brisbane These improvements will reduce traffic congestion and promote greener travel options, benefiting Southeast Queensland in the long run. Enhanced transport connectivity will make it easier for residents and tourists to travel across the region, boosting local economies and improving quality of life. #betterforqueensland #communityoutcomes #strongertogether #olympics #brisbane2032 #paris2024 #gold #brisbane #australia #queensland #cairns #goldcoast #transport

“Public transport journey times on the north and south quays in Dublin city have reduced by 20% since the introduction of a transport plan one month ago, the National Transport Authority (NTA) has said…. Dublin Town have also reported that footfall in the city increased during the month of September.” Great to see such positive results already from the new traffic plan introduced in Dublin last month that restricts cars access through the city. Prioritising sustainable travel and climate action is good for the city, good for the climate, good for commuters, good for companies. #ClimateAction https://lnkd.in/ePJHG93V

Are you, or is anybody you know, a public transit or sustainable transportation advocate who votes in the Victoria-Swan Lake riding? Better Island Transit (https://lnkd.in/gqWpRtsH) is organizing a delegation to meet with Transportation Minister Rob Fleming and we would like to have more citizens from his district. Our short-term goal is to increase #66 and #70 bus service between Victoria and Nanaimo to at least hourly departures with $5 one-way fares. Our long-term goal is to convince the Ministry to provide support for interregional public transit services -- most BC highways have no or very limited service, which is unfair to non-drivers and by increasing highway traffic increases infrastructure costs. For more information see our backgrounder: https://lnkd.in/dFuhJcEf . Next month I'll present a paper on this issue, "A Business Case for Improving Interregional Public Transport Service Quality" (https://lnkd.in/geSPFXbU ), at Mobilizing Transportation Research in Canada 59th Annual Canadian Transportation Research Forum, May 12 - 15, 2024, Kelowna, British Columbia My conclusion: a highway is not complete if it lacks convenient and affordable public transportation services. Please share this request with any public transit advocates.
