As we celebrate Kids Music Day, we are pleased to unveil a revamped version of SFSKids.org, the Symphony's free, online learning resource designed for young students & teachers. The website features games & exercises that cover the fundamental aspects of orchestral music—such as learning about the different instrument families—& aims to spark a general interest in music. SFSKids.org is designed for classroom use throughout the US but all are welcome to explore! #KidsMusicDay

50% of music students quit in the first two years. Here's why: → They struggle with their instrument → They get bored with practice → They don't know how to learn effectively The result? Wasted time and money. And that's unfortunate because music is life-changing. But what if we could change that? What if we could gamify it? Imagine an app that teaches you music like Candy Crush teaches you how to crush candy. → Learn while having fun → Enjoy the process, not just the end result → Make friends along the way We could change the game of music education. And we might just have something. Follow our journey: Overture Games

#musicedtiptuesday Music classes should run as if they were art classes. There is always some level of copying involved in learning any art, but it should never stop there, and art classes definitely don’t. Try starting with creating something new! Music learning in school tends to get stuck at the copying part. Think about how learners could create their own piece, or add an element of creativity to anything they do. Keep it simple! #musiced #musedchat #musicteaching #creativity #creativemusicking #musicteachers
