New book on wildlife coexistence, "A Woman Among Wolves" from wolf biologist, Diane Boyd! This was a fascinating read where she takes you into the world of wolf research and recovery, starting in the 1970's and through the present day. Her passion, drive, and ability to overcome challenges, both in the field and the culturally, as the only female wolf biologist in the 1970's is inspiring, entertaining, and thought provoking. The story of wolves in the United States is still unfolding, as Diane's closing words describe: "It is up to us if the wolf will continue to exist or if its howls will be silenced. When we hate and fear them, we eradicate them. When we love and value them, we protect them - and they return. Wolves must live somewhere in between these extremes. As I narrowed my professional focus on wolf recovery, I became aware of the critical role that listening, education, and outreach played in my work - as well as wolf recovery everywhere. Wolf management is people management. Period." Highly recommended for anyone interested in wildlife research, coexistence, environmental education, or the incredible beauty and ecology of this amazing continent and country. #wildlifecoexistence #wolfrecovery #wildlifemanagment #wildlifebiology #naturiotism
