Hello, I’m Jessy Cartier and I lead R&D projects as a Senior Project Manager at Samabriva. My role involves developing hairy root cultures that produce the molecules of interest to meet our clients’ requirements. This includes literature reviews, molecular design, project management and troubleshooting to create the best-producing clones that will be passed to our process team for scale-up. I hold a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Burgundy and did postdoctoral research in the U.S. and Scotland where I focused on gene regulation in cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. After leaving academia I joined a CRO. There I managed client projects in immuno-oncology and neurosciences before joining a company involved in in vitro diagnosis. Samabriva's vision for sustainable bioproduction, along with the opportunity to learn new processes, convinced me to join the company earlier this year. Experiencing different working environments, countries and cultures has made me adaptable and open minded. And given me a broad knowledge base that I can apply at Samabriva to optimise the bioproduction process and improve productivity. Outside of work I enjoy the process of making my own clothes. It’s very satisfying to make something from scratch and see the piece that I have in mind become a finished outfit.
