I often see service-based businesses shoot themselves in the foot with their website content strategy. It’s not their fault, either. They want to be helpful so they share lots of info on their site. But being *too* helpful will end up attracting the wrong crowd. Let’s say you’re a pest control business out of Toronto. Your website content (articles/blogs) covers various spiders to be aware of. But most of those spiders are found in South America. Nowhere near Toronto. So what happens? You drive tons of traffic to your site, but most of it isn’t even top-of-funnel. No one’s going to convert. You’re spending time and money just to get more people well-informed about spiders—not customers who will call you for help. That’s why your content must be specific to your service area. Speak to local problems, suggest the right local solution (your business) and you get the right local leads that will convert. I’d rather a client get the right 50 impressions a month, versus 50,000 impressions that will close a tab and never think about them again.

In a world overflowing with content, crafting compelling copy is your secret weapon for a website that converts! 🚀 It’s not just about filling space; it’s about building connections and driving action. Here’s how to transform your copy into a lead-generating powerhouse: Foundations of Good Copy 1. Build Connections 🤝: Great copy resonates with your audience, making them feel understood and valued. 2. Unique Brand Voice 🎤: Infuse your writing with your personality to stand out and keep readers engaged. 3. Action-Oriented🔥: Every piece should prompt action—make it clear what you want them to do! Crafting Conversational Copy - Use "You" and "We" 🗣️: Create a friendly atmosphere. - Ask Questions ❓: Encourage agreement with small prompts. - Empathy First ❤️: Understand your readers' struggles and position yourself as the solution. - Focus on Benefits 🌟: Highlight how your offerings improve their lives. Know Your Audience Define who they are, research their needs, and engage them for insights. Tailor your language to speak directly to them, emphasizing empathy and relatability. Best Practices - Clarity and Conciseness ✨: Keep it simple and engaging. - Formatting 📑: Use bullet points and clear calls to action. - Inject Personality 🎉: Use unique phrases and avoid jargon to make your content relatable. I hope you found this helpful! If your website copy isn’t hitting the mark, we have one spot left for September. Keep it simple, people skimread at speed. Remember, basic marketing copy should be (mostly) understood by a 9-year-old. If it totally escapes them then that’s a red flag for you to revisit and simplify.
