Yesterday I was privileged to attend a virtual mentorship session with our mentor Malama Milambo MBA, FCCA, AZICA . It’s always a privilege to learn from his teachings. Our main focus yesterday was on self awareness and development, my key takeaways from the session are; 1. Knowing who you’re is very important in every person’s life, be it at personal level or professional level. It’s always important to know who you are as this will help you discover what you’re actually good at. 2. Background, this can be defined in terms of how you started,it doesn’t really matter how you started as long as you know yourself you can add value to your life and make a difference in your life. 3. What will differentiate you from your workmates? It’s actually the unique things that you’re good at, and how do you discover that? It’s by knowing who you are and what you’re good at and channel your energy on that. “Do not wait in you’re old to discover who you are, life has no respect for time is wasted “ To my fellow young people (20-30 yrs) let’s discover who we are while we’re still young. Charting New Heights at PwC Academy🚀: A Journey of Growth and Gratitude July 31st marked the end of an enriching career chapter at PwC's Academy Middle East, and with all absorbed over the past 5 months,- the beginning of invaluable growth. Of course, I owe that climb to all my mentors and colleagues I had the pleasure of working with, Elsa Durango Linsangan, ACIPD, MACHILL NAVARETE, ACIPD, Ruba El Hajj, Riham El Wassal, Maya Baghdadi, Omar ElJichi, MQM, PMP®, EFQM, Ayesha Abdul Wali, Deepa Dayal (BA Hon, MSc), Sulaiman Abdo, Reem Fadlelmoula, Nishit Mehta, ACCA, ICWIM, Sacha Reyes, Hamid Alamdar Naqvi, Ihsan Imthiaz, Shraddha Merchant, ACCA, UAECA. Your collective guidance, encouragement, collaboration, and most of all, your openness - have been pivotal in enriching my journal of growth - both professionally and personally. Sincerely, it was a privilege! I was educated on far more than words can convey, but I penned down what I believe stood out the most: 📊Plan Strong, Deliver Stronger Quality is everything. Not a single aspect of a project, deserves any less than high grade and meticulous attention to detail. Often unseen tasks are the backbone of a flawless project. This isn't just a step in the process, but the foundation to success - where each question mark highlights how to achieve a project's highest potential. What started as a proactive strategy, came to be a discipline; it enabled me to manage my workload efficiently, meet deadlines consistently, and to be a part of delivering high quality results. 🔀Harness Flexibility There is always an opportunity for growth in our ability to adapt. With the constant challenges and opportunities, preparedness may not always suffice. This demands a spirit of resilience. Rather than being confined by uncertainty, I chose to explore the path of “What can I discover/learn from this?”. I learned that the true potential of a project and oneself, is unlocked when we address, and conquer something unfamiliar. ⏳Focus and Balance Attention to detail is paramount, but sustaining it needs adept time management and- the occasional pause. I saw that true quality comes from a balance between intense focus, and taking a breath. This balance not only enhanced my productivity but also ensured consistent results on days that required ample multi-tasking.(I know of an incredibly wise colleague that would swear that an Americano sums up everything I just said ☕). 🧠Document all Ideas The mind is for generating ideas, not for storing them. Embracing this mindset at PWC Academy was welcomed. I made it a habit to capture my thoughts immediately and by recording and organizing my ideas, I could focus on problem-solving, enhancing my creativity and enabling me to contribute more effectively to my team in times of need. This Pic was taken during recent training I attended at work. It was an amazing full day training where the coach kept us engaged throughout. The coach was one awesome lady with many years of experience in the field. She was just too good who managed brilliantly to blend learning with fun. The topic was 'Service Mindset' - Very relevant to life of a consultant. As you can see, I am wearing a hat in this pic. This was one of the activities we were asked to do as a part of training. The purpose of this activity was to understand the requirements of clients and then align our service offerings to them within the given time. The key takeaway from this was to ask questions about what client needs exactly and not just rush to meet the deadlines. As a normal human tendency, we all started preparing this hat the moment clock started ticking. Only when we finished preparing it, did we realize that there were few loopholes in 'delivering' the final output. It was indeed an eye opener. At times, we are so focused on deadline, we miss out on some other equally important areas. It was indeed an insightful learning and also great opportunity to mingle with team members from other service lines.
