"The most effective way to do it is to do it." 🏋♂️ - Amelia Earhart (one of my favorite quotes while challenging myself) 😂 I finished the Azure Synapse Analytics for Data Engineers course with Ramesh Retnasamy, a project-based course designed for individuals looking for a practical, hands-on, and highly engaging approach to learning the Azure Data Engineering stack. For the course, I learned and implemented a real-world data engineering solution using Azure Synapse Analytics on real-world data from NYC Taxi Trips. 📈 It took me three and a half weeks to complete, as there were projects to be done and other work-related commitments. 🌱 Key takeaways from the course 📝: 💪 Azure Synapse Analytics Architecture: I gained valuable insights into its capabilities and powerful architectures, i.e.. from data ingestion to transformation, and business reporting. 💪 Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 integration with Azure Synapse Analytics: I learned how to create SQL scripts, Spark notebooks, and, execute scripts and notebooks using Synapse Pipelines and Triggers. 💪 Power BI Integration with Azure Synapse Analytics: I learned how to build reports in Power BI for the data stored in Azure Synapse Analytics and how to integrate and build BI reports on Synapse. On to the next!! 🚀 #dataengineering #etl #continuouslearning #azuresynapseanalytics #azuredataengineer

🚀 Just completed the "Transform data using Spark in Synapse" module as part of my Microsoft Azure Data Engineer course! 🎉 I did a scenario-based study for this module. You can find the scenario details, codes and outputs in the pdf below. 🔍 Scenario: Development of Big Data Sales Analysis Platform Transforming data is crucial for insightful analytics, and Apache Spark in Synapse makes it seamless! 📊 1. Load source data: Loaded historical sales order data from CSV files into a dataframe. 🔄 2. Transform data structure: Separated CustomerName into FirstName and LastName fields. 💾 3. Save transformed data: Saved the transformed dataframe in Parquet format for efficient analysis. 🗂️ 4. Partition data: Optimized performance by partitioning data based on Year and Month. 📝 5. Use SQL to transform data: Utilized SQL to transform data, creating external tables for easy querying. 🔍 Query Example: Query data directly using SQL for specific analysis tasks. 🗑️ Clean-up: Dropped external tables, maintaining data integrity. 🌟 Excited to dive deeper into Big Data Analytics with Azure! 💡 #Azure #BigData #DataEngineering #Spark #Synapse #AzureSynapseAnalytics #LearningAndDevelopment #SQL

🚀 I’m excited to share my experience working on a personal project where I built an ETL pipeline to extract meaningful insights from raw data related to online shopping intentions. Leveraging Azure's powerful tools like Databricks and Data Factory, I implemented the Medallion Architecture to process and store data efficiently in a data lake. The final step was using Power BI to create insightful visualizations. Azure has a really strange but nice way of processing the data and i was able to build the entire data pipeline in azure, additionaly ,its free tier capability is massive as from data ingestion, transformation ,loading(ETL). This project was a fantastic learning journey, and I’m thrilled with the new skills and insights I gained along the way. 💡 #Azure #ETL #DataScience #PowerBI #LearningJourney #BigData #AzureSynapse #Databricks #DataFactory

Hi everyone, Excited to share my latest Azure Data Engineering project! In this project, I built an end-to-end solution that effectively ingests data from an Azure SQL database using Azure Data Factory. The data is stored in containers in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2. Using Azure Databricks with PySpark, I transformed the raw data into its cleanest form, which was then loaded into Azure Synapse Analytics for further analysis. Finally, I connected Azure Synapse Analytics SQL to Microsoft Power BI to create an interactive dashboard, providing valuable insights from the data. Throughout this project, I used Azure Key Vault to securely store keys and passwords, as done in real-world scenarios. 🔧 Tools Used: 1) Azure Data Factory 2) Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 3) Azure Databricks 4) Azure Synapse Analytics 5) Azure Key Vault 6) Microsoft Power BI This project was primarily focused on learning and gaining hands-on experience with various Azure services in a real-world data engineering scenario.
