Milestone in Madrid 💃 Walking into the conference center, my heart pounded as I observed the crowded room of people speaking exclusively in Spanish. I felt a new level of fear mixed with an extra dash of imposter syndrome. I silently condemned myself for not taking more than a year of Spanish in high school. I was the only one presenting in English and had to remind myself to breathe. This past spring, I was honored to present at the First Annual Innovation and Sustainability for Remediation of Contaminated Soils in Madrid, Spain with our international partners GreenSoil Group. These exchanges are crucial for sharing sustainable green technology with the world. Not only did I get pushed out of my comfort zone, but I also realized the immense future growth potential for sustainable biological solutions globally. This trip also marked a personal milestone: my first time traveling to another country alone. Exploring the vibrant streets of Madrid, embracing a new culture, and managing the journey independently was an adventure that I'll never forget. I was even inspired to purchase a full-length wool coat that the fashionable women of Madrid wore so elegantly. If an opportunity presents itself to you that is scary and challenging… Take it! You never know the ways you will grow. And you might get a great coat too. #ProfessionalGrowth #PublicSpeaking #Madrid #PersonalMilestone #Sustainability #GreenTechnology #SustainableRemediation

#Mobility #SustainableDevelopement #Transport #education #climateChange #LowCarbon Mobility is one of our passions and that is not just because we love to ride our bike and travel by train anywhere. It is actually very much linked to our job in sustainability. Individually and collectively, we all have a capacity to induce change toward a low carbon transport. Worldwide transport is responsible for 15% of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), with countries specificities (17% in Poland) going up to 30% (as in France). Transport is a fantastic field to work on sustainability: 1) we all need to get around and go from point A to point B, even often several times a day, 2) all players (individual, business, public sector) CAN and HAVE TO work on reducing the carbon and environmental footprint of their mobility, 2) changes needed to reduce the impact of mobility do not necessary require investments or costs, rather the contrary sustainable active mobility is a source of saving for individuals and businesses, a way to make our cities more sustainable, breathable and pleasant, and to keep/make us healthy (advantages for all actors). The workshop Mobility Collage (La Fresque de la Mobilité) is a great way to raise awareness about the impact of our mobility and the solutions to lower it. It is adapted to individual people, businesses and players of public policies (municipalities & government). #MobilityCollage just celebrated its 3rd anniversary and over 12,000 persons have already participated in workshops (mostly in France). Let's add #Poland on the map! We are very proud to announce that we became the first organisation to conduct Mobility Collage workshops in Poland. Our founder, Virginie LITTLE, an experienced Climate Fresk facilitator, became the first facilitator of Mobility Collage in Poland. The #Polish version of Mobility Collage will be available from April. We can't wait to discuss with you the benefits sustainable mobility brings to us all and what solutions we can implement easily and on a short and long term. We are curious to know which organisation will be the first one to conduct Mobility Collage in Poland? Be a pioneer! Stay tuned!

🌿 Green Opportunity – Re-design the Future ✨ We are thrilled to share the success of our 1st Kick-off Meeting for the Green Opportunity Project, held on June 3rd & 4th, 2024 in our city Patras, Greece! The KA2 Small Partnership Project 2023-3-BG01-KA210-YOU-000180593 "Green Opportunity" is dedicated to introducing the environmental benefits of circular economy to young people. We aim to inspire and encourage a new way of thinking about production and consumption that integrates natural ecosystems into our daily lives, businesses and waste reduction efforts. Our 1st kickoff meeting brought together passionate individuals from Bulgaria (Браншова Асоциация Полимери and Get Involved / Включи се и ти), Croatia (More Coaching) and Greece (Liofyllo), united by the common goal of creating a sustainable future. The project focuses on creating engaging and educational animated videos and toolkits about the circular economy, disseminating them through social media and video platforms and sparking social media challenges with unique hashtags to encourage active participation and responsibility among youth. The discussions and activities over these two days have set a strong foundation for our mission to combat the negative environmental impacts of the current “take-make-dispose” economy. We are excited to empower young people with practical tools and techniques to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and contribute to the circular economy. This project will foster a sense of initiative and active citizenship among young people while promoting creative learning, intercultural dialogue, and the joy of diversity. With participants from three different countries and cultures, we are united in our mission to create a greener, more sustainable world. 🎯 Stay tuned for more updates and join us on this exciting journey towards a brighter future! #GreenOpportunity #Erasmusplus #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #YouthEmpowerment #EcoFriendly #PatrasMeeting #ReDesignTheFuture #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalAwareness #InterculturalDialogue #ActiveCitizenship #EUProjects

Are you in the hospitality sector? Do you have 15 minutes to spare? Join our survey! We are currently involved in an Erasmus+ funded project called CSS-H and we would love your participation in our survey! The CIRCULAR SME SCAN IN HOSPITALITY (CSS-H) project will provide (micro) SME owners, managers and staff with the knowledge, skills and competencies which will help to become more circular, through the development of an evidence-based auto-diagnostic tool that will guide them to the specific knowledge most relevant for their situation and business, not only from the perspective of their own internal processes, but also from their position within the value chain (and its processes) which requires coordinated (local) action with the rest of the actors in the chain. What does a circular business mean? Following a circular business model means reusing, recycling, and repurposing materials to reduce waste and move to more sustainable business practices. The survey aims to analyse the attitudes and experiences of SMEs in the field of circular economy and the knowledge, skills, and competencies to be developed. Learning and growing through new experiences with practical application in the real world.
Public Relations and Anthropology student | Public Relations Leadership Intern | Brother of Alpha Phi Omega
Hello LinkedIn! As my spring 2024 semester abroad in London approaches its end, I wanted to reflect on one of the amazing trips I got to go on. I was fortunate enough to participate in the pre-semester Signature Seminar- Sustainability on Trial: Environmental Justice in Northern Europe. This course included a 10-day intensive field study across three countries: Sweden, Finland and Norway. During this time we engaged with related reading materials and participated in in-depth class discussion that enhanced the first-hand experiences and knowledge gained in the field. As a group we explored the 'green' infrastructure of Stockholm, Sweden; learned about Indigenous knowledge and governance in Inari, Finland; and engaged with ideas concerning the relationship between natural landscapes and tourism infrastructure in Flåm, Norway. All that we learned was enhanced by the once-in-a-lifetime experiences along the way. I can now say that I have ice-skated through Stockholm, toured the Finnish Sámi Parliament, pet reindeer, gone husky mushing, saw the Aurora Borealis, snowshoe hiked on the Norwegian glacierscapes, went ice fishing, and jumped in a freezing cold fjord in January. I can not adequately put into words how grateful I am that I was able to participate in this seminar and expand my thinking regarding sustainability, environmental justice, global climate issues and the politics that go along with it. I am truly so thankful that what I have learned and experienced will forever stay with me! While I was sad that the 10-day excursion was over, it was then time to begin my semester studying and living in London! If you would like to learn more about my experience during this course and how we engaged with themes of sustainability, please visit the blog I created for one of the post-excursion assignments. https://lnkd.in/eAc8GaxP
