In light of recent climate disasters, it is safe to say we have surpassed the meaning of “now more than ever.” Climate change and its effects are no longer merely subjects of warnings and future speculations; they are a catastrophic reality for many across the globe. Taking action together is the only answer, the only solution. The good news is that there are brilliant minds who have been working on this far longer than we have, such as the rePurpose Global team. Supporting their efforts and those of other climate activists by learning, sharing, and raising awareness is a way to take action for the future of our shared planet. Join us on International Day of Climate Action by watching Episode 004 and discovering how @repurpose_global is leading the way in tackling plastic waste. The Saie Way – Episode 004: PLANET VS. PLASTIC follows the Saie team to India, as they learn more about plastic pollution on our planet and who’s fighting to end the crisis for good. https://lnkd.in/ewV5e5n3

THIS YEAR WE ARE ALSO ADDRESSING THE CLIMATE CRISIS... In 2024, several major environmental events are shaping global discussions. One of the most significant developments is the continued fight against climate change, marked by a focus on the transition to low-carbon economies. Countries are enacting policies to cut emissions, and major gatherings like COP29 will further global climate commitments, particularly in financing for emerging economies to adapt to climate change. Another key issue in 2024 is food sustainability, as agricultural emissions and food waste remain top concerns. At COP28, many nations agreed to integrate sustainable food systems into their national climate plans by 2025, but progress is being closely monitored throughout this year. Plastic pollution is also being tackled through the Plastic Pollution Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee, which is working on a legally binding agreement to reduce plastic waste globally. These efforts are accompanied by broader sustainability initiatives, including massive renewable energy projects, like solar farms, and growing international cooperation on deforestation and nature-based solutions. #ClimateActionNow #SustainableFuture #ZeroWaste #PlasticPollution #NetZero #RenewableEnergy #GreenEconomy #COP29 #SustainableAgriculture #FoodSystems #ClimateSmartFood #Agroecology #UNEP #ClimateCrisis #Biodiversity2024 #NatureBasedSolutions

EARTHDAY.ORG, Raises awareness about environmental issues. Denis Hayes organized nationwide events, with Earth Day 2022's theme being 'Planet vs. Plastics', aiming to reduce plastic production for human and planetary health. Celebrated globally on April 22, it began on US college campuses in 1970 after an oil spill in Santa Barbara. In 2016, April 22 became the date for the Paris Accord, a landmark treaty against global warming. Originating months after a California oil spill, Earth Day aimed to merge anti-war protests with pollution awareness. Hayes built a national staff to promote events, renaming it Earth Day for visibility. The theme 'Planet vs. Plastics' advocates a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2040 for a plastic-free future. #EarthDay #PlanetVsPlastics #EnvironmentalAwareness #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ParisAccord https://lnkd.in/g7TSpkQj

"Oceans are a big part of our lives, and it is time we realize their importance." The ocean covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of every other organism on earth. #WorldOceansDay2024 theme is: 'Awaken New Depths.' The UN is joining forces with decision-makers, indigenous leaders, scientists, private sector executives, civil society, celebrities, and youth activists to showcase how our relationship with the ocean needs to urgently change since our efforts to date have only skimmed the surface. It’s time to restore our relationship with the ocean to one with respect and of balance. With every breath we take, we are connected to the ocean. But the climate crisis is placing pressure on the ocean. It’s time to put the #OceanFirst because when we safeguard the ocean, we protect our future. Every piece of plastic ever produced still exists unless it's been burnt. It's in our soils, oceans, air, our food chain & our bodies. So let's stop the plastic pollution and #SaveOurOceans and Planet.. 🐋🦈🐬🐚🪸🐙 🐟🐧🌊 जागतिक महासागर दिनाच्या शुभेच्छा. 🌎 Happy World Oceans Day! 💙 #महासागर #Oceans #BeatPlasticPollution

How do businesses choose the suppliers they partner with? There’s lots of elements, from products to profile, but one of the underlying catalysts is value alignment; are the things which are important to a business and their customers, also important to a potential supplier? One of the MOST influential of these values is sustainability, as global warming and environmental changes continue to threaten our planet. Lots of companies make a positive impact, and even trade upon it as a primary reason for working with them, while others are incredibly proactive on a global scale but, arguably, not as vocal. Take, for example, a company which has reduced the CO2 emissions of its plants and distribution centres by 91% since 2005, despite increasing production volume by 45% in the same period. A company which has 110 carbon neutral sites (including 22 factories) and 100% of their global sites will be carbon neutral by 2025. Plus, Five of their factories are “waterloop factories”, meaning that all the industrial water is retreated, recycled and reused in a loop - all of their factories will operate this way by 2030. A company that produces market leading and beloved products which use 1,704 raw materials from over 320 species of plants and, currently, 94% of the biobased ingredients for formulas are traceable and come from sustainable sources, none of which are linked to deforestation. By 2030, this will reach 100% Most recently, that same company was recognised as one of only 10, out of over 21,000 global companies scored, that achieved a triple 'A' in 2023 from the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and stands as the only company to have earned an 'A' rating across all three environmental themes assessed by CDP (fighting climate change, managing water sustainably, and preserving forests) for eight consecutive years. That company is L’Oréal and I’m exceptionally proud to be a part of an organisation that makes positive changes to not only people’s lives but also the wellbeing of our planet every day. In turn, I am proud to work with hairdressing partners who are positively changing the world, one client at a time. If you would like to learn more, or become one of these partners, please reach out; we’d love to support your values further. In the meantime, follow the below link to learn more:

As we progress towards Vision 2030, the pressure to achieve SDG 13 (CLIMATE ACTION), particularly the reduction of carbon emissions is increasing. The use of cooking briquettes made from sludge, sawdust, or organic waste appears to be a viable solution. These briquettes can help prevent deforestation by serving as a substitute for charcoal, offering a longer-lasting and smoke-free alternative. wambui kimunya The HEY Campaign The Ashley Lashley Foundation
