Here’s a glimpse of my first horror game, which we developed for the IGDC X WTF Game Jam. 💫 Our theme was "First Contact," so we aimed to create a game that truly reflects this concept. The game begins in a maze filled with emptiness. As the player navigates and once he picks the statue (the target), the horror aspect comes into play: chained monsters are unleashed and they attempt to kill you. The only way to stop them is to make eye contact with the monsters. This causes them to become nervous or something. Anyway in order to succeed, you must overcome multiple monsters and return to the escape point. The primary mechanic of the game is the eye contact thing, which is easily achieved through a simple math. Which is the the dot product. By calculating the dot product of the player's z-axis vector with the target direction vector, we obtain a scalar value. This value, when compared to a threshold, determines whether the player is facing the acceptable range for eye contact with the monster.
