This simple, outdated website makes $600,000 a year. How? By doing something so basic. It’s almost genius. One guy created a site that just lists book series in order. Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Hunger Games… you name it. Sound simple? It is. But the strategy behind it is what’s brilliant. Curious how this turns into $600k a year? Elden Ring isn't cutting-edge, new or radical. It's a textbook example of knowing your audience. 🎮 🏆 With a Game of the Year title and one of the most popular DLC's in history, Elden Ring cemented itself as one of the greatest video games of all time this summer. It had detractors: ❌ It's too hard ❌ There's no story ❌ It doesn't tell me where to go ❌ Same as previous games The funny thing was...... 😅 Those were the same reasons the returning player base played the game! ✅ It's challenging ✅ The story is hidden, lore to be discovered ✅ Its free roam, waiting to be discovered ✅ It's similar to Dark Souls (predecessor of ER) FromSoftware, the dev team behind Elden Ring, is staunch in holding to their core values. 📕 But they bend where the problems are outside of those core values,⚖️ balancing certain items and skills in the game. 😵💫 In my content, product, and business, I can get swept away by the detractors and lose what made me special and unique in the first place. AKA my Brand. I want to be like FromSoft and give the people what they want! #branding #marketing #unique

This week, with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, we're reminded of the incredible potential and daunting challenges that face large-scale projects in our sector. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth expands a story into a vast open-world adventure, showcasing the ambition and creativity that drives our industry. Yet, juxtaposed with recent news of Sony laying off 900 employees, including at top-tier studios, it prompts a vital conversation about sustainability in AAA gaming. The growing concern is clear: AAA titles, with their massive budgets and extensive development timelines, are becoming increasingly challenging to sustain. In an era where development costs can soar to $315 million, as seen with titles like Spider-Man 2, and production cycles stretch years, if not decades, we're approaching a crossroads. Yet, such projects push the boundaries of what games can be. The question then becomes, how can we preserve this ambition while navigating the financial and logistical hurdles? Solutions and Adaptations Scaling Intelligently: Not every AAA game needs to target a 100-hour playtime. Focusing on delivering a compelling, more concise experience can ensure resources are utilized effectively, echoing the sentiment that sometimes less is more. Exploring Alternative Revenue Models: Subscription services, episodic content, and live services offer ways to mitigate upfront costs, enabling studios to adapt and evolve content over time based on feedback and performance. #GameDevelopment #AAA #Sustainability #Innovation #FinalFantasy7Rebirth #GamingIndustry
