The Annapurna in North Western #Nepal has been touched as having the world’s best #trekking routes. From the Pokhara popular treks lead to Jomsom, Annapurna Base Camp, #Mustang, Manang, and around the Annapurna mountain. Short treks to #Ghorepani and #Chisaponi are just as popular. The Annapurna region is an area of contrasts comprising Nepal's wettest, driest, and windiest places. https://lnkd.in/dXqSYVs4

In his history of Nepal, Rishikesh Shaha writes that bhot means 'highland' while pahar means 'mid-mountain regions'. Does this mean these two words first had meant geographical regions and only later gained ethnic meanings too: Bhotiya for Tibetan highlanders and Pahari for Indo-Aryan highlanders? Or did these two terms (bhot and pahar) have both ethnic connotations from the very start of their usage? Or was Bhot a both an ethnic and a geographical term while pahar just meant any mountains first? And I guess the answer to this question depends on which language we talk of.
