Let’s say you don’t niche down. You don’t become a deep expert at anything. Will you be at a disadvantage? Will you be the “jack of all trades” everyone quotes with distaste? Not really. You may be making the right moves. Technology has changed the way we work, the perceived value of work and the skills needed to thrive. New wealth creation is a digital event. We are amidst new emerging beliefs. The role of the specialist is no different. It is undergoing an evolution. With AI/ML and automation, specialised tasks become accessible to non-specialised people. The answer? A multidimensional mindset. We often paint the idea of a generalist negatively. But if done right, it could be beneficial. Humans are multidimensional creatures. We thirst to create new things and experiences. The ability to pivot and integrate knowledge from various sources can be more valuable than deep specialisation in a single area. This generalist nature is what enabled humans to evolve, adapt and survive. It is this same adaptability most of us will need in the modern digital age. My research and thinking suggests that you should: 1. Learn to stack your skills 2. Focus on mental skills that are difficult to automate 3. Combine approaches to solve problems 4. Keep checking for changing values in a changing world. (Value is a perception, it changes) 5. Create your work around your larger life goals, not your goals around your work. #thoughts

If you'd have asked me just a few months ago what I thought of liberal arts, social studies, and other "non-competitive" fields, I would have dismissed them as impractical and leading to poor job prospects. However, witnessing the current rate of change, I now believe the opposite might be true. As we approach 2030, humanity is experiencing rapid advancement and transformation. Despite the media and social media algorithms often pushing negative or false narratives, we are more prosperous than ever before. Technological and medical advancements are propelling us forward. While some fear that AI will "take the jobs," I see it as an opportunity we should embrace. There’s no doubt: AI will replace or eliminate certain jobs and careers. But this doesn’t have to be a negative development. As robots take over routine tasks, we can redirect our focus to more critical issues such as conflicts, economic disparities, disease, and hunger. This is where thinkers and creatives will have their moment to shine. Their role will be essential in maintaining our structure and purpose, because having it all means nothing if we end up destroying ourselves. Anyone skeptical of this perspective is likely short-sighted. I firmly believe that within the next decade, we will witness a massive shift. This is a bet I’m willing to take. Continue to study the arts and humanities—they will be crucial in keeping us grounded when we believe we have everything sorted. #thoughts #ourfuture

The 3 skills humans need to master to stay relevant in an automated world. #1 might surprise you. The future is automated, but humans aren't obsolete. Here are 3 skills you need to master to stay relevant: 1. Emotional Intelligence You didn't see that coming, did you? In a world dominated by AI and algorithms, our ability to understand and manage emotions becomes a superpower. Machines can process data, but they can't empathize, read a room, or navigate complex social situations. Mastering EQ helps you: • Lead teams effectively • Build stronger relationships • Make better decisions under pressure 2. Creative Problem-Solving Automation handles repetitive tasks seamlessly, but throw it a novel challenge - like designing a new product or resolving a moral dilemma - and it falters. Humans who think outside the box, connect ideas, and innovate will always be in demand. Cultivate creativity by: • Exposing yourself to diverse perspectives • Practicing divergent thinking • Embracing failure as a learning opportunity 3. Adaptability With change accelerating, those who can learn, unlearn, and relearn quickly will thrive. Develop adaptability by: • Staying curious and open-minded • Seeking out new experiences • Cultivating a growth mindset While technical skills matter, these human-centric abilities will set you apart in an automated world. Invest in them now. Your future self will thank you. #FutureOfWork #HumanSkills #CareerDevelopment #LBFAlumni #SkyHighTower

Navigating the Changing Landscape of the IT Industry🤔 In recent times, we've observed notable shifts in the IT industry, prompting many to consider the underlying causes and future implications. Here’s an exploration of why this change is happening, the influence of AI, and how we can navigate these challenges effectively. 🤕 Causes of the IT Industry's Downturn: 1. Market Saturation: The proliferation of IT companies offering similar services has led to intense competition and slimmer profit margins. 2. Rapid Technological Advancements: The swift pace of tech evolution requires constant innovation, making it challenging to keep up. 3. Economic Factors: Global economic uncertainties and fluctuations impact investments in IT projects, creating a volatile environment. 🤖 The Impact of AI: Artificial Intelligence presents both challenges and opportunities: 1. Automation: AI streamlines repetitive tasks, boosting efficiency but reducing the demand for human labor in certain areas. 2. Innovation: AI fosters the creation of new products and services, offering growth opportunities while disrupting traditional roles. 💡Overcoming Challenges: 1. Diversification: Consider exploring opportunities in physical businesses or industries less affected by rapid tech changes, such as healthcare, renewable energy, or sustainable agriculture. 2. Reskilling and Upskilling: Invest in acquiring new skills relevant to emerging technologies and industries. Continuous education is crucial. 3. Embracing Change: Instead of resisting, embrace AI and technological advancements. Integrate these tools into your business strategies to stay competitive. 4. Mental Well-being: Maintain a balanced approach to work and life. Engage in activities that promote mental health and reduce stress. 😊Moving Forward: It's essential not to panic. Every industry undergoes cycles of change. today Sam Altman shared his outlook for the future in a short, accessible, enthusiastic essay. have you read it yet? what do you think? he believes the upsides of an AI Super Intelligence far outweigh the downsides, and i want so much to agree, but are we as a global society ready for such a fast, huge transformation? Sam believes mind-boggling innovation will generate greater prosperity for all — if we can evenly ensure access (and i’ll add, the protection our of resources and our privacy). and yes! i 100% agree that the “future of work” is not bound to paid jobs and that there is plenty to do to keep us busy and fulfilled — as i often say, i have 5 roles these days and tho only 2 are financially rewarded, i submit all add tremendous value to society. SO, this means we need to be just as innovative in designing new #economic models that ensure this life of prosperity is distributed justly and available to everyone. ready. set, go!! #exponentialprosperityage #theintelligenceage #neweconomics

🚀 Forget 10,000 hours. Here's how to become an expert in just ONE year. Sounds impossible, right? That's what Lucy thought too. Meet Lucy. A year ago, she was a frustrated data scientist, watching the AI revolution from the sidelines. Today? She's a sought-after expert in Generative AI, running her own thriving consultancy. Her secret? She discovered the art of "Domain Jumping." Now, you might be thinking, "But Jan, doesn't expertise take years to develop?" Here's the unexpected truth: In today's rapidly evolving world, it's far more valuable to master a new, emerging domain quickly than to have decades of experience in a stagnant field. Lucy's journey taught me three critical lessons about fast-tracking expertise: 1️⃣ The power of the "Generalist's Advantage" 2️⃣ Why "Shallow Dives" beat "Deep Dives" in emerging fields 3️⃣ The counterintuitive "80/20" rule of expertise building This approach isn't just about career advancement. It's about future-proofing yourself in a world where change is the only constant. Want to know how you can replicate Lucy's success? I've broken down the entire process in the Learner Mindset newsletter (link in the bio). Remember, in the age of AI and rapid technological change, the ability to quickly become an expert in new domains isn't just a nice skill to have—it's the key to staying relevant and thriving. Are you ready to become the Lucy of your field? Let's revolutionize how we think about expertise together. 💡🚀 #ExpertiseDevelopment #CareerGrowth #FutureOfWork
