I've recently completed Management Consulting Simulation Program and learn some new skills which brings a rough idea about how a business plan formed, how you have to focus on each details of your plan and how you decide your investment and revenues.. What I learnt... 1. Create a business summary:- I create a business summary of a company and focused on each details and analyse the past revenues and forecast expected revenue. 2. Create a divestiture interview guide:- Here I create 20 Interview question on various topics like R&D, HRM, Sales skills and employees motivation. 3. Qualitative synergy presentation:- Here I explain the merger of a company with another and how it boost the revenues hike which is tough to reach individually and focus on various improvements in company like R&D and Transportation. 4. Create a Excel model and email summary:- After completing all the models I wrote an email in which I precisely explain all the details from the supervisor end and send it to higher officials for briefing. It is a good experience for me and I gain confidence in business model planning. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲. Mainstream media publishes scathing articles every week. People have made a business out of this by posting funny memes. But I can't shake the feeling of cognitive dissonance. My personal experiences don't correlate with all the negativity out there. Maybe I got lucky, but I worked with fantastic people. I could see the world and work on so many cool projects. But I can only imagine how it feels for people who have just joined consulting. It must be discouraging and worrisome. If you have just started working in consulting, ignore that negative noise. Negativity is like poison. It spoils everything you see and do. Focus on the main prize for yourself: learning to work well, gaining unique experience, meeting great people, and accelerating your career. Consulting is perfect for that. Enjoy the journey. It is very startling to see that only 24% of CEO's in India have an MBA. While Technology + Business is the next big thing as maximum number of CEO's globally in this age have a Technology + Business Background & the growing concern whether the job of a CEO will be endangered because of A.I., one must always understand that the reason why people pursue EMBA or MBA later on in their career is because of the tools & techniques they get through which they are able to better execute & monitor things & thereby decide course of action or make decisions. Nearly 30 - 50% of the work of all executive leaders comprise of reviewing the work of their subordinates & believe me even Boards spend maximum time reviewing. Whereas 10 - 20% of the work of leaders are mostly Mentorship & even Boards are involved in Mentorship. While the rest may also link to new products or projects being initiated or looking after the finance & marketing part. So, I think, the most essential skill for leaders is the ability to look at one step backward & onr step forward & the intersection of Leadership & BOD's will automatically be a CEO. The ability to teach automatically makes one a leader which is only possible when we have the right set of data available with us. In U.S. & other European Countries people like to take up teaching assistant jobs at MBA Classes or BBA Classes because firstly they earn some money & secondly they are able to review the work of students & soon after completing their studies they take up the position of Director. While the hierarchy in USA is a bit different & Vice Presidents are generally above Director whereas C Suite Executives are above V.President, they even become Vice President soon. Thus, Monitoring, Reviewing, Providing Feedback & Mentorship is a key responsibility of a TA which occupies most of the time for V.P. or C-Suite Leaders too. I think more & more educational institutions should embrace TA at Institutions too & many US Universities have TA whereas few Indian Universities have started giving TA jobs too. I think what is also important to note is that TA is a versatile job & nearly 50% work in Corporates after having taken up TA positions at Leading Universities in USA & the remaining take Teaching Jobs. So, it opens up both opportunities.
