Hurricane Milton could cost the insurance industry an estimated $30bn to $50bn, and likely limit the potential for property catastrophe rate declines in 2025, Fitch Ratings said in a note issued Thursday. The projected numbers would rank Milton as the largest insured loss since Hurricane Ian, a strong Category 4 storm that took a similar path in 2022, causing $60bn in losses. https://ow.ly/gLFq50TJOBM #HurricaneMilton #InsuranceHurricaneMilton #HurricaneMiltonInsurance Fitch Ratings

How will Hurricane Milton affect the 2025 renewal period? 🌪 🍃 It's still early days but according to a Morningstar DBRS report, Hurricane Milton could result in up to $60billion worth of NatCat losses for the insurance sector, potentially impacting reinsurances prices that largely stabilised over the past 12 months and knocking on all the way through... resulting in some pretty hefty price surges for both households and property owners. With the 2025 renewal period kicking off, will we see rate adjustments across the reinsurance sector? After speaking with some of my contacts within my network, the reality of 3 consecutive hurricanes means that this is almost certainly gauranteed and negotiations are about to get tough... #Reinsurance #RiskManagement #ClimateChange #Insurance #HurricaneMilton

Losses from Hurricane Francine are not going to be terrible, with losses (only!) expected to be in the 'low single billions'. Today's demotion to a tropical storm seem to be bearing that out. Nevertheless, if you are the one without power or suffering flooding in Louisiana, this might not be much comfort. Another reminder that homeowners can do a lot to prepare - from generators to emergency supplies, sump pump maintenance, and more. Stay safe out there. https://bit.ly/3B29hTw
